As a kid I wasn't what others would concider "fat" but I was always bigger than my friends. In highschool I wore a size 12 when all my friends were in 4-8. After graduation I went to a size 14 and stayed there until a year and a half later when I gained about 40 lbs and went to size 16-18. I lost weight and was in a size 14-16 when I got married at 21. At 22 I had my son and went back to an 18 after delivery and stayed around 200lbs. When my son was 10 months old I had a miscarriage and gained 45 lbs in 6 months. The quick weight gain caused fatty deposits on my liver and was diagnosed with NASH. With the help of fertility treatments after another miscarriage in Dec 2005, I became pregnant with my daughter in May 2006. At that time my steady weight was 245. I gained 22lbs during my pregnancy and lost it all plus 3 lbs by 6 weeks post partum. I have stayed at 242 since March 2007.
I have tried weight watchers, slim fast and a personal trainer to loose weight and always struggle with the program and end up weighing more than when I started. In my extended family there are several people that underwent Gastric Bypass in the early to mid 1990's. While most had incredible results, I always feared it for complications suffered by my aunt. I also thought that I wasn't at "that point" until I looked at some pictures of me at a family wedding. I was mortified at what I saw and have been self conscience around my parents and sibilings ever since.
