Well here is my story...I have been over weight since late elementary school. I have been extremely active in sports all the way thru school till present date. But every year just like my age my weight went up. For the last 5 years I have been actively trying to change anything and everything about my life to lose weight. Never really getting into the over the counter pills or shakes as all my research shows they do not work. I started working out every day with my friend who is a trainer...doing all these classes( yoga, pilates, hip hop cardio, etc) then walking for an hour on the treadmill and lifting the circuit in the weight training machines. I gave up pop/soda completely and started eating salads with little to no dressing for lunch and a very balanced dinner. I still wasn't losing weight...I went to the doctors and had every test you can think of and still no answer as to why I couldn't lose weight. Finally my doctor said I think you should think about WLS surgery.
So I called and made an appointment I remember being so scared sitting in that fully filled waiting room waiting to see doctor Barker....soon I was called back. I met a nurse first whom was extremely honest right off the bat...and then I met Dr. Barker...whom I really enjoyed the fact that he looked me in the eye and said you have to make the descion that is right for you. He told me I was gonna have to be on a monitored diet for 6 months....the look on my face he read right away...he told me it was going to be the fastest 6 months ever....I smiled thinking ok? But the truth is...I am a week away from getting surgery...my insurance approved it and here I am I went in for my second consult and he came in and smiled....I said..you know it was the fastest 6 months and I am so ready for my life to begin.
So that leaves me where I am....waiting for my life to begin again :)
