One Step Closer

Aug 23, 2016

It's been a long haul to get to this stage. The program in Manitoba sure has changed immensely and for the better since 2010. I finally meet up with my surgeon, for the vsg revision to roux en y, Monday August 29th. From there I will find out when my surgery date is.

I never realized through the years what I was doing wrong and the things I had to rectify to get to this point...fighting with iron levels, eating at least three times minimum, protein, protein protein and how to not only use meat as a source, reaching my caloric intake, etc. Yes, if you skip a meal or if you do not eat enough, you will have big issues not losing weight.

At the beginning of this program, in its infancy, they didn't have the crew they do now, so its grown up quite well, by leaps and bounds.

I am excited to start this new chapter in my life at 50 (birthday was January 9) and as I hit that age milestone, I also had a few other firsts......first vacation alone, to the place I have always wanted to visit and that is now forever in my soul, New Orleans. To staying in a hostel for my stay and enjoying the city on my own.

I have been "medically retired" since end of 2013, but was on short term disabilty prior to that for 2 years, much to my dismay.

I have been cursed with the bad genes from my paternal grandmothers side of the family. I have Fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, severe arthritis in feet, knees and back, and I am pretty sure the excess weight isn't helping with the latter. PCOS, asthma, and the list really goes on and on. I cannot walk great distances, concentrate or have a "normal life" thus far.
Like everyone else I have good and bad days and have been yelled at by trolls, calling me a whale, etc. But thats their issues, not mine.

Will post again after my dr's appointment on Monday. I will try to remember to do so.

Ciao for now!!
