Wonderful Update for 6/20/09
Jun 20, 2009
My husband and I will be signing the lease on a beautiful Senior Apartment in Sayville, NY. Moving from our house will be very stressful but it will be so much easier for the both of us. It is 2 bedroom and 2 baths so we won't have to kill each other over who showers first. Next to the living room there is a lovely alcove that will be perfect for the computer. The kitchen is beautiful and there is a separate dining room. There is also a laundry room with a washer and dryer. We also are renting a garage so we will have extra storage. I'm sorry to go on and on but I am really happy! We have a nice sized balcony and we can put lots of plants outside as well as a table and chairs. No more raking, grass cutting and snow shoveling. I don't have to worry about fixing appliances or dripping faucets! There is even a community center with game rooms, a library and a gym! I won't have to get in the car and go to the gym... I also am thrilled because we can move with our Meco and Fagel! So now I just have to figure out what things are coming with us and what things are being sold. I am so excited! We will finally really be retired!

Happy Flag Day Everyone!
Everything is going great with my RNY Revision! I am down to 187 on my scale at home! I feel great, except for a little cold, so I cannot complain at all. I am so much better off than this time last year. I drink lots of liquids, eat plenty of protein and take all of my supplements. Life with an RNY is really easy...at least much easier than it was with my lapband.
Yesterday I went with Heather, Rachel and the Pose support group for Mini Golf. I would not have been able to do that 110 pounds ago! I had so much fun! I no longer worry about how far I will have to park or how far will have to walk. I also would have worried about walking around and expecially about having to pick up the ball numerous times. Now the more exercise the better! I can have fun again! I missed so many years due to obesity. I still am not skinny but I am working on it. Now I am trying to make up for lost time!

Today was the Dream Walk from Obesity 2009 at Long Beach, NY. It was a fantastic day and for the first time in my life I walked three miles! I never could have done that before my surgery!
Here is a picture of some of my friends and OH people who came to the walk.

I love my RNY and I am so thankful that I was able to get this revision. I was just sitting down a little while ago and thinking of how much better off I am now than before my RNY. Here is a little list of all of the good things...
1. NO MORE REFLUX so I can sleep at night.
2. I don't need to go for fills any more & I don't need to pay for them
3. I have shrunk out of many clothes
4. I don't PB any more
5. I feel great!
6. I have lost 46 pounds since my RNY - not a fast loss but great never the less!
7. I can eat steak. I couldn't for over 2 years with the band.
8. I no longer take diabetes medicines.

I am happy to update this afternoon! I am now down 106 pounds!
I can't understand how I was ever able to walk around with all of that weight on my body... I just hope that I will be able to get down to a normal weight and no longer continue to be obese. I had started with a BMI of 58. Now I am down to a BMI of 37.3. I have gone from Super Obese to just Obese! My goal is that one day I can report that my BMI is normal...

Happy Passover & Happy Easter!
Apr 10, 2009
I just wanted to make a little post to wish everyone a happy holiday!
I hope that all of my Jewish friends and family have a wonderful Pesach! I also want to wish all of my Christian friends a very happy Easter! May everyone enjoy their holidays with just less food than before our surgeries!
My band problems really kicked in starting on Easter Sunday last year. That is when my reflux started and never left until my band came out. It is just so wonderful that my RNY has not given me a single problem and that I am healthier and much happier this year!

Well now that my leg is getting a little bit better I have a new problem that also has nothing to do with my weight loss surgery - I sprained my wrist... I was carrying a case of iced teas and I must have grabbed it wrong. Today I woke up with my wrist killing me. Steve wrapped it for me in an Ace bandage. I just can't get a break this week - first cellulitis and now a sprain! I need some better luck...

Hello Everyone!
I am not a happy camper this weekend. I am home with my foot up because I have an attack of cellulitis in my left leg. That is the same leg that I had a staph infection in during 2001. That landed me in Stony Brook Hospital for a month so I was really afraid when this started. I went to my PCP yesterday who gave me an antibiotic to take. I really hope that it will knock out the infection. I have to keep my leg up as much as possible so I have been stuck in the house.

Hi Everyone!
My appointment with Dr. Cussatti went quite well. He was satisfied with my 13 pound loss since December, even though I wish it was more...
He said that we cannot expect the same big losses for me as for someone who never had WLS before. He also said that my losses will be slower because so much weight came off previously with the band. My only issue is that my labs showed that I am anemic. I now have to take 2 iron pills a day. They are over the counter ones called Vitran C. Those are supposed to be well tolerated and not cause constipations. After my appointment I went out for the day with Heather and her friend Rachel. I had a wonderful day. I just want to say that I still LOVE MY RNY!
