3 Months Post Op Update

Nov 25, 2014

Well today I am 3 months post op!
I am so thankful I had the lap band removed and a revision to bypass! I still and will continue to battle my thyroid issues and weight for the rest of my life but I am so thankful I am losing weight!

Today I weighed in at 190.4! 37 pounds down from the time I began my 7 day liquid diet and 32 pounds down since day of surgery! I can't wait until the holidays are over because then my husband will be joining me at the gym and I plan on putting my exercise routine on full blast! Next goal is 30 more pounds to reach 160 by February 25 (6 month mark)!

Next September I am taking my husband to Guadalupe Island to cage dive with Great White Sharks ( my third trip there) and my goal by then is to be 130 pounds! I can't wait for what 2015 has in store for me!

12 Weeks Post Op

Nov 16, 2014

Today is my 12 weeks weigh in and I am down to 192. Down 30 from surgery date and 35 from beginning of liquid diet. I'm a slow loser but I continue to lose something each week so I am happy... especially since I am fitting into closes that I haven't been in -in about 2 years. It's been a rough two weeks but I'm happy I was still able to lose during that time. My 3 month check up isn't until December 4 (which will actually make it 3 months, a weeks and two days PO)... November 25th is my 3 month anniversary.

I've been working out at the gym as much as possible considering my busy schedule. Mainly doing more weight lifting and then Zumba twice a week.  I'll be so happy once the new years is here because my hubby will be able to join me in the gym and life will be a lot less chaotic!

I'll officially update my weight and new goal after my doctors apt... until then - keep losing everyone!

ONE-DERLAND!!! 9 Weeks Post Op

Oct 26, 2014

Well I woke up this morning and found myself in ONE-DERLAND!

I'm still battling my thyroid issues but I am thankful the weight is coming off. I'll do another blood checkup in a few weeks and I don't go back to my RNY for my 3 month checkup until after Thanksgiving. I've started a weight training and cardio training at my gym down the street and starting this will I'll be doing Zumba on Tues and Thursday....

My journey may be longer and slower than others but I am definitely happy I took this chance get back to where I need to be!

6 Weeks Checkup

Oct 03, 2014

So yesterday I went for my 6 week checkup (4 days before actual 6 weeks) and the NP seemed very happy and pleased with my progress. She knew I was upset that I wasn't losing like I thought I would but she encouraged me to keep trucking along and that I was doing good considering my starting weight and my high Thyroid levels. Since my initial consult weight of 227 I have lost down to 208. So 19 pounds. Who ever says having the bypass is taking the easy way out to me will probably get the wrath of my fury. ... Monday I get to start solid foods and any type of exercise I want! I'm definitely gonna get back on my treadclimber and give it a go... that thing tires you out quick though..but that may be what I need to get the pounds dropping off. I go back after Thanksgiving for my 3 month appointment. The also gave me two packets that had a lot of good info on foods to have or trade out for during the holidays. She said my expected weight loss from now until then should be between 10-15 pounds. I think that is completely do able!

I had an appointment for my endo after this checkup and she bumped up my meds by 15grams (to be taken at a different time in the day) in hopes that this will help bring my levels back down to where I like them and it that may in turn help me lose but no garuantees... nothing I am not used to. I'll do another retest of my blood in 6 weeks to determine how my levels have improved and then we will determine if it needs to be raised more or to stay at that level for a while. Next appointment with them will be Jan 20, 2015. So overall a good day.

Turns out my scale has multiple personalities...

Sep 29, 2014

So I weighed in on the 1 month anniversary of my surgery and my scales said 207. But my husband noticed that when he weighed in it would give different readings every time he stepped on the scale. It was a fancy smancy scale that took all sorts of readings... so I decided we could just get a plan jane digital scale. I stepped on that scale this morning and to my disappointment I'm actually 209.4. I though I had reached 20 pounds all together but I haven't. Doctors apt on Thursday so hopefully they can help me figure out how to get things moving along better.

1 Month Surgiversary!

Sep 24, 2014

I have to say how surprised I am at how easy this first month was! God has blessed me and kept his protective hand over through this whole journey and I am VERY thankful!

While physically everything has gone smooth, mentally not so much. After 1.5 week out of surgery I started to stall and after about a week of weighing every day I had to put away the scales so I would stop focusing on weight loss but on recovery and the program. I knew eventually everything would come full circle. During this time I started having problems sleeping well and couldn't concentrate but couldn't figure out why I was always exhausted and in a haze.  I had to do a blood test for my endocrinologist appointment coming up and to my surprise my TSH level had made a significant jump - from 1.06 pre op to 6.36 post op. So that explained all the symptoms I was having. It may even explain why I was stalling out. So hopefully my endo and I can get it figured out and back down to my preferred level of 1.

At my last weigh in on September 8 I weighed 213.4.

This morning I weighed 207! So looks like I finally broke through that stall! It may not be a lot but I'll take it!

I also took pictures and I can see a smoothing and thinning out difference in my pictures.

So I'm happy that in a months time I lost 20 pounds from pre op (HW) to today. I know I'll lose slower and that's okay with me ...just as long as I keep losing!

3 Weeks Post Op Today

Sep 15, 2014

I am three weeks out today and feeling great! My incisions are all pretty much healed up now. I took my first semi-bath since surgery... It was nice to soak my legs in the hot water for sure. I am dog sitting at my parents house so I have been riding their Octane Stationary Elliptical bike. Saturday I rode it for 15 minutes and Sunday for 30. Felt good to exercise for reals. I'm hoping this stall that I'm in goes away quick...especially once I am able to really start working out. I'm not sleeping well at my parents so I can't wait to be back at home with my hubby in our nice and comfy bed. My old lady dog kept me up all night...so it is already a Monday for me... I just want to sleep...but I have 2-3 more days of nights like that. Hope time flies by! Happy Monday!

18 Days Post Op

Sep 12, 2014

I've just been cruising right along since the surgery. I still haven't had any issues with nausea or not being able to eat food. I did have a couple days where I was dizzy first thing in the AM but i think it is all resolved now. I am getting in all of my protein (yay!) and almost all of my fluids. It's really hard to get all of your fluids in...didn't know it would be that hard. lol I stopped weighing myself so I feel in the dark. I wont find out my new weight until October 2.... I may weigh in on my 1 month anniversary....just for funzies :) I started doing arm exercises last night with 3 pounds weights... I figured i'd do that for a week and then move up to my 5 pounds. I can't really tell yet that I'm losing weight...Trying to not get discouraged right now. I know I need to up my exercise time I usually walk the halls twice a day for 15 mins at a time. Can't wait to jump on my treadclimber ...I may try that next week ;-)
