Taking Ownership

Jul 05, 2020

Since going work at home in  March I have gained 17 pounds. I weighed myself this morning and have decided that I need to take ownership for this weight gain and turn things around. My goal is 230lbs and today I weighed in at 273lbs. My highest weight before surgery inwin 04/2011 was 430lbs. My lowest was 230lbs and I will get back there. I am very disappointed in my self since I had regain from 230lbs to 303lbs and in February 2019 I restarted my journey relearning to us my tool. I got to  257lbs  and then I just stopped walking stopped drinking water  and started snacking and not watching my intake. But tomorrow I will restart again and will succeed I have to for my health.

Update on my new journey

May 11, 2019

I had my surgery in 2011, I lost 200 lbs my highest weight was 430. I restarted my new journey on February 14th 2019  and as of today have lost 28lbs of the 73bs I had regain. It is not easy but  seeing a nutritionist, relearning to use my tool, drinking plenty of water and making better choices have all  played an intrical part in my weight loss.  I still have 45 lbs to go in order to reach my lowest weight of 230 lb which is my goal. I feel very optimistic then I'll be able to reach this goal and maintain it.

Relearning to use my tool.

Mar 25, 2019

Hello everyone it has been almost two years since my last post. I had my weight loss surgery in 2011 lost 200 lb. My highest weight was 430 lb. My highest weight recently was 303 lb. I am down now to 285. I decided to take control of my life again. Went to see a nutritionist I have  continued to see my weight loss doctor once a year.  In the last 35 days I've lost 18 pounds and I feel really good. It was inot the amount of food that I was eating but what I was eating . I also have been battling a thyroid problem that has not helped the situation. I have learned to reuse my tool and by doing so I'm starting to lose the weight I've gained. I have another 55 lb to go to get to 230 and I know I can do it. Never give up!

I have gained 41 pounds YTD

Nov 14, 2014

I have to be very honest and say this is all my fault. I got comfortable and decided to take time off the workout routine and decided to start eating things I had no business eating  basically got lazy. My highest weight at surgery was 430lb. My lowest was 230lbs. Lost 200lbs. but in the last year i have gain 41 pounds back that puts me at 159 lbs down from my highest weight. I an very disappointed in myself. I made a promise to my self over 3 years and 7 months ago that I would not allow myself to go back once I had the surgery, and I am well on my way to failing that promise. Today is a new day for me I will restart my workouts and so back to the basics to get back on track. My OH family my advise to all is stay on track.. don't walk away from your routine don't make the same mistake I did as you will find yourself finding it very hard to start over.

April 13th 3 Year post op..

Apr 12, 2014

Hello Everyone.. I wanted to share with my OH family how I feel about my journey. I will start by saying I do not regret the decision of having my WLS. I know that I did the best thing for me. My weight at the e time of my surgery was 430lbs. My lowest weight achieved was 230lbs and I now weigh 257llb. Down 173 lbs of my highest weight.  I feel great off of all but one medication. No sleep apnea any more sugars are good and Bp is great. I have accomplished so many things I never thought I would be able to do. I was able to participate in the Susan G komen 3day 60 mile walk in 2012 and 2013. And fished both times. I have also participated in few 5k . I who barely could walk from the parking lot of my work place to my desk with out stopping several times. I have been very blessed that I have had no other challenges along the way. To all that are looking into doing this for you.. Do some research, asked questions this is not a fix it is a tool. I put off this decision for over a year before I went through with it. Working out is so important eating right drinking the protein, following the rules in order to make the best of this tool. I want to lose the 27lbs I have gained in the last year and I will, only because although ou are told you may gain up to 20 pounds back when it is all said and done I have gain7 more pounds than that and to be very honest I feel uncomfortable with the extra weight. So back to doing what I need to do to get it off. Overall I want to thank God for all his blessing and my family for all of the support and love.

2 years 9 months post op....

Dec 09, 2013

It has been a few months since i have been on the site. I went to see my WLS doctor last week and i have gained 25lbs from my lowest weight.  My lowest weight loss was 200lbs, I started this journey weighing 430lbs, I now weigh 255lbs. The doctor was still so happy with my numbers 175lbs lost but i don’t feel the same. I feel like if I don't watch what I am doing i can end up exactly where I started almost 3 years ago. I have taken a break from working out since late October at which time I walked the 3 day  60 mile Susan G Komen walk for the Cure. This was the second year in a row for me and it was yet again a incredible experience. I know that some of the weight is muscle maybe 5 pounds of it lol…. the rest is simply me eating things I should not be and the lack of exercise. I know what I need to do but i needed to vent and be honest with myself and all of you that have been so supportive.

1 year and 8 months post op... 199 lbs lost

Dec 19, 2012

It has been a great blessing to have had this surgery and thank God have not had any complications. I have been able to do things I actually did not think I would be able to door do again. I have been able to participate in the Susan G Kolmen 3 day 60 mile walk for the cure this year, I has able to go to a theme park and actually get on rides something I have not done in over 20 years. I was able to walk  through turnstiles with out turning my body sideways wow what a feeling,. The little things that have such a BIG impact on our lives. I have one more mediation to hopefully get off of and no more pills.  The doctor feels he will take me off that medication once i lose about 30 more pounds.   I have been struggling  for the last 5 weeks with my weight., up 1 pound one week; down the next. Today I weighed in at exactly what I weighed in at on 1 year 7 month post. I know that it will get harder to lose the weight at this point, I will continue to do my very best. As always to those that are thinking of WLS.. I will say in my case it has given me a new begriming and it is incredible, but do your research it is so important that you know everything you can about the steps you intend to take.  This is not a quick fix this is a way of life.. Good luck to all.

Nov 14, 2012

Today I weighed in and I have lost 199lbs in 19 months. Wow is has made such a huge difference in my life all for the better. I was able to walk in the Susan G Komen 3 day for the cure. 60 miles..in 3 days. I actually walked the whole 60 miles. Before the wls I could hardly walk from the parking lot to my desk at work and believe me I am not talking a long walk at all. It has been a incredible journey and once again I would like to thank all who have posted on this site as it has been such a helpful tool. Thank you all again. I have a way to go yet but I am on the right track. I started this journey at 430lbs and today I weighed in at 231lbs, I have been taken off all but one medication and my doctor feels that once i lose another 30lbs he will take me off that also. To all that are looking into WLS do your research this is not a quick fix it is a way of life.
