Monday was sopposed to be my pre-admissions testing at the hospital and an appointment with my Surgeon for his check-up and history appointment.  I received a call from the program co-ordinator informing me that the surgeon b/c of some screw up was stuck in Atlanta whre he went for a conference. She wanted to know if I wanted to postpone the appointment with the hospital until later in the week when I could meet with the doctor.  I had already taken some time off to do this so I went to the hospital to get poked, stuck and x-rayed.  I went ahead and started the liver shrinking diet knowing that he would have told me to.  So now my appointment is set for Thursday and hopefully all the ducks will be in a pretty little row for my surgery on February 10th. 

THings have moved pretty quickly for me since I decided to change my life early this month.  My mother has been amazingly supportive and has offered to pay the lion-share of the cost of the Lap-band.  I think the best way to repay her for her kindness is to do what is expected and work this band to the fullest (not that I wasn't going to do that anyways).  My surgical consult was yesterday. Dr.  Elliot was very optimistic about the procedure and was please that  I was so well informed.   My psych eval was today.  That was a weird experience.  She pointed out what she feels will be my stumbling blocks and gave some ideas to help resolve them.  This is all moving quite fast.  I have a class to attend on the 19th and then all I have to do is schedule the surgery.  I will probably have my band by Valentines Day.   OMG....

I was wondering how many of the OH family have paid for there surgery.  MY insurance does not support and procedures or surgeries related to wieght reduction.  THey even went so far as to list the procedures and include a sentence about new techniques.  I am just trying to decide whether or not I want to pay $20,000 for this.

I am new to the OH Board, and already feel at home.  I have been poking around reading the support you are giving to each and I am looking forward to being apart of the family.  I hope to begin my WLS journey this month.  MY insurance company has a stated policy of not covering any bariatric surgery or any weight loss procedure. THank goodness for Carecredit.
