One year has gone by, 3/2007

I am sorry I haven't unpdated!
It has been a great year!
I try and spread the word about the WLS whenever people ask as I am a proud recipient of this tool.
I have lost 102 pounds and feel like I am 20 years old again. I don't even know if I felt this good then.
I would do this yearly if I had to, (although I am glad I don't)
My only issue has been low iron and I had that before my surgery and didn't even know it.
I am going to the gym and working a lot of overtime and having a great time with my family.
The year flew by!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it.
I will be seeing my surgeon soon. I have been seeing my PCP monthly and he follows my very closely. If anyone reading this needs help or support I am here for you.
This site is something I have treasured for the last couple of years. I recommend it to anyone considering surgery or looking at options.

Thanks to all that have helped me along the way!!!

I have to Thank Reba C. for this beautiful profile! I just love it.
I think I will update more now that I have something pretty to show!
I have been plugging right along. Since my 3 month appointment I found that I have been having trouble with my TSH and low iron. The TSH could be contributing to my slower weight loss although I feel good and I am losing consistenly. I have upped the iron dose and feel great. The only meds that I am taking now are vitamins and my thyroid meds. No more blood pressure meds! Hurray.
I also came to the conclusion that if I had to do this yearly I would. I am glad that I won't have to but I would if I did!
I will post more information after I get my next set of labs back.
I will being seeing my PCP in about 3 weeks.
Talk with you soon!

haven't updated in a while. I am doing pretty good. When I look at the weight loss of others I feel like a slow loser but at my appointment with the surgeon he said I was where I should be. That made me happy. I feel great and I am wearing a lot of old clothes that haven't fit in years. I have a lot more energy and am enjoying the summer. I can work 12 hour shifts now without my knees suffering. I am very thankful that I had this surgery. I have not regretted it for one second. I don't care about certain foods that I avoid (I don't want to say "can't eat") since they are what got me where I was before surgery. I am enjoying exercise, as much as I possibly can. This really has been a life saver for me.
I will try and update more often.

Hi just a quick update. I have been spending a lot of time on the message boards but have neglected my profile. I am doing well with my foods and am feeling much better. I feel better than I did before surgery so I am very happy with my decision. My knees don't hurt as much, unless I over do it. I am back to work and am walking regularly. I am planning to join the gym in the next month or so. I am really surprised at how good I feel. I wouldn't call me a ball of energy yet but I am improving all the time.

I made it through surgery without issues. It was much better than I expected. HURRAY!
The week of clear liquids was a little stressful. I had no energy and felt drained since Sunday. The first 5 days I felt fine. I am now taking full liquids and my protein drinks without problems.
I didn't get along with the Lovenox injections very well. I started bleeding from a few choice areas and they stopped those right away. I just have to really make a point of moving. I went to the grocery store today. Had a good walk but it wore me out. Thankfully I was with my DH and he put everything in the basket and paid and packed it in the car. I went along for input and walking. I will try to update regularly. Thanks to all who gave support and advice. It really is necessary in preparing for this procedure.

Well after all is said and done my employer changed insurances and I am covered. My PCP gave me 12 beautifully dictated letters for all my visits. I jumped through every hoop and now I am covered without needing anything! Oh well, I am just going to work with what I have.
I went for my consult appointment today, I really like the surgeon. He is very nice and believes in this surgery 100%. I am H Pylori + so I need another treatment, an EGD with biopsy and am good to go.
I should have a date within the next couple of weeks.
I will keep all posted.

Still waiting for November, trying to keep a positive attitude.

I have heard from the insurance people and I will not be approved until I complete the 12 consecutive months of physician supervised diet with nutritional counseling. I started this last November so by the end of the year I should be good to go! I am looking at it as part of the whole process instead of a negative.
I will post when I have more info!

I called with regard to my approval and found out the person handling my case is out on a medical! The benefit person at my employer is handling this with the rep from the insurance company. I was told that the person doing the review would be back sometime this week. I hope they make it quick! I would love to post "I have a date!"
