Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Mar 17, 2007

Well, it's been quite a while since I've posted.  What can I say?  My intentions were to make a post at least once a week starting with my pre-op phase and beyond.  I've kinda messed that up, but will try to do better from this point on.

The most exciting new I have is that I've been banded!  I'm hoping all of you on the losers' bench will scoot over to make room for me!  My surgery went well.  I went in around 11:00 a.m. and was home by 7:00 p.m.  The real fun began the day after surgery.  All of the excess gas wreaked havoc on my body for about a week, but it seems I've finally kicked it's butt.  The only pain I'm having now is a little pain around the port area.

With regards to eating, I've graduated from liquids to mushies.  I love the mushies stage, but it's definitely been a time of experimentation.  I've pushed it a couple of times with what I've considered to be mushies, but as soon as I figure out it's a problem I stop.  I'm trying to be very creative with my meals so I don't get bored.

With regards to exercise, I've taken it pretty easy since surgery (except for returning to work).  I plan to start walking this coming week and hope that I see the scales start to move again (they've been stuck since moving to mushies.  We'll have to see what happens!

I'm so glad to be here and hope that I can be an inspiration to you as much as the other folks on the Lap Band message board have been to me.  So long for now...and happy banding!

Waiting and Wishing

Feb 10, 2007

Well, I'm anxiously waiting for my surgery date.  I know it will be here before I know it, but I wish it were sooner.  I guess if I've waited this long (since September, 2006) and I'm still this excited, that's a good thing.  I've really been watching what I eat since my visit with Dr. Woodman this week.  I've actually been thinking about what I'm going to put in my mouth before I put it in there.  I've also been paying close attention to when I'm full.  If I'm full, I stop.  However, if I get hungry between meals, I eat a healthy snack.  I find that I do much better if I'm able to "graze" throughout the day rather than if I try to stick to a strict, three meals per day schedule.  I don't get frustrated nearly as much, so I don't mindlessly gorge something down "to feel better".  I just feel like I'm at the beginning of a journey to a whole new lifestyle...not a whole new life...a whole new lifestyle.  I tend to like my life - it just needs some tweaking here and there.

No Time To Waste

Feb 06, 2007

Well, yesterday was the day I've been waiting for.  I finally got a surgery date - March 6th.  It wasn't as soon as I would've liked, but after waiting this long, I'll take what I can get.  I'm excited, anxious, and ready...well, almost ready.  Dr. Woodman would like for me to lose no less than ten pounds before surgery, so there's no time to waste.  I started working on it the minute I left his office and plan to work hard to remove any doubts that he may have.   I can do it...I can do it...I can do it.
