Tammie M.
I am a 32 year old female that is having surgery on the 25th of July 2011. I have been working towards this surgery for the pass three years years. I started having problems with my weight when I was 23 years old, around that I was having family problem which cause me to become depressed and lead to me using food as a crutch. I went from 115lbs to 190lbs in a couple of mouths. It was at this time I was diagnosed with PCOS and told that I would never be able to have children. This lead to more depression and more eating and I continued to gain weight. By the time I got married in 2006 I weighed 224lbs, had high blood pressure and was insulin resistance. In September of 2006 I had a miscarriage and it was around this time I just stopped taking care of myself and trying to loss weight. and I gained up to 245lbs. Then in May 2007 much to our surprise I again got pregnant and I was sent to a high risk pregnancy doctor. I was only 16weeks along when I was put of complete bed rest due to my Blood pressure being to high. At 20weeks along I developed Gestational Diabetes and my Kidney's started to fail. At 24weeks I started having pre-term contractions and at 33weeks my daughter was born. During my pregnancy I gained up to 265lbs. I was told by all my doctors that after the pregnancy my blood pressure would stabilize, my kidney's would start functioning ok, and the diabetes would clear up, except 6months out I never loss the baby weight and my kidney's continued to get worse. As did the blood pressure and diabetes. It was around this time that my kidney Doctor suggested weight loss surgery to me but I wasn't sure this is was what I wanted to do. One year after my daughter was born I had a kidney biopsy done and I was told by my kidney doctor that I had a choice to loose the weight and save my kidney's or loss my kidney's. It was at this time I decided to got see Dr. Boyce at the New Life Center for Geriatric Surgery in Knoxville, TN. I was told I was a good candidate for surgery and I was very interested but did not have insurance at the time and didn't think I could afforded it. For the next two years I Begin trying different diets to loss weight and I would loos weight but then gain it back and more. After I was able to get health insurance alittle over 6months ago I went back to Dr. Boyce and started the 6months supervised diet. I lost about 20lbs on the diet and I am now schedule for surgery on the 25th. My current weight is 269lbs. I am looking forward to the surgery and losing the weight, I know it will be hard work, but I want to be around to see my little girl grow up and I want to be able to take her places and do things with her that I can not do now because of lack of energy or health issues.
