My story sounds much like so many others. I have been overweight my entire life. Around the time I started high school I lost about 40 pounds (from 140 to 100) and looked pretty good. I slowly gained through high school, college, marriage, baby, and finally divorce. The end result was a super morbidly obese weight of 388. I still can't believe that I allowed it to happen. I see myself as an intelligent, independent woman, with control of her own destiny. But I let obesity kick my butt for the last 20 years. I started looking into WLS when I first heard about gastric bypass. But, to be quite honest, that surgery scared the heck out of me. It was fascinating to see the amazing results, but I was not willing to undergo that kind of plumbing change! Then I heard about the lapband. I spent about a year researching it and finally decided to have the surgery. I can't wait to be able to do so many things that I have not done in the last 10 to 20 years.
