Hi Mellie I am a Mellie (Melanie) too. I had lapband surgery on 5/11/09. So far everything is great and I know you will have a successful surgery. Keep a positive attitude and it will serve you well. One comment and something they don't tell you. You will experience shoulder pain, mostly left shoulder, after surgery. It's caused by two things; the gas they use to inflate your belly to see the field clearly, and there is a nerve that runs across you belly near top of you stomach that gets irritated during the surgery from being moved around. So don't feel your the only one who's having this discomfort. Best wishes on a speedy recovery and the start on your new life
