That's right folks I have broken the 100 pound mark! I don't have a lot of time to write this but I am doing great, feeling fine, and loosing weight. What else could a gal ask for?

More info to come later!

GO ME! (go Dr. Hess!)

75 Pounds and counting

Dec 04, 2007

Just did my 3 month check up (a little early) with Dr. Hess and everything seems to be going well.

I just started a new job as a nanny. I really enjoy being with the children again. I have to say that I was very nervous about starting work again after being so sick. I am not a strong as I was before surgery so I am trying really hard to build up my strength.

Tomarrow is my birthday (Dec 6) and it will be my first year without a Birthday cake. It doesn't really bother me though. I am having a harder time with other foods that I can't eat. The sweets aren't so much a problem. I have been really craving a sub! When I went to the Dr.s last week they finally moved me to stage 5 so I can pretty much eat the things that I am craving (with adaptations). I had a tuna salad salad for dinner the other night and it was so good. Just to be able to eat some veggies again was nice.

now at 278 .... -75 Pounds!

Well We found out what the issue was!

Nov 09, 2007

So I came down to Orlando to visit with my family and to hopefully recover from the surgery since I was doing so poorly. One night the nausea and the pain just got so bad that I went to the emergency room here in Orlando. They did a bunch of tests and found out that my gallbladder needed to come out. My doctor here said it was one of the worst he had ever seen!

Now, I am doing really great. I am able to eat my 3-5 meals a day, I am drinking water and not throwing up!  I am able to start walking more- I went to the mall and walked around today for the first time. Things are really looking up for me!

I am glad that I came on vacation- I fear they would of never diagnosed me up in Boston!

start 353.... lost 30 pre-surgery 323....now 285   -68pounds!

Rough couple of weeks

Oct 19, 2007

So, I have been to the emergency room two times now due to very severe dehydration. They pumped me up with some fluids which helped but it just seemed to get bad again after a few days. They changed my nausea meds again because they weren't really working well. Now I am on some much better stuff. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and am just now moving to the mushy food stage. I had to wait since I was so sick. I am starting to feel better- not great- but better. Which as you can imagine is nice.

I was dealing with some bad depression. I think this is from being so sick and not really being able to go or do anything. I was so weak I could hardly walk to the bathroom much less go for a walk!

I am leaving to go to Orlando tomorrow! I think that being around my family will help with the sadness! Nothing can make things better like being around your mommy!

Start 353 .....lost 30 before surgery 323......now at 295

Almost 3 weeks- feeling crappy!

Sep 30, 2007

It's been nearly 3 weeks now and I am feeling crappy! I was dealing with SEVERE nausea the entire time but I finally was given some nausea medication which is taking the edge off.

I am having a REALLY hard time drinking all my ounces and getting all my protien in.

To sum it all up: I am in the ....why did I do this to myself stage.

Good luck to all of you
Katie

Surgery down

Sep 18, 2007

I had my surgery Wed the 12th, it is now Tues. I was just released from the hospital yesterday. I was having some unexplained horriable  pain so I had to stay a bit extra so they could rule out any complications.

I am still in pain, Huge pain. As a twist of some sort of cosmic joke when we got home yesterday my husband ran out to get the pain meds and 15 pharm near us did not carry it. Lucky we called the hospital and they said they could fill emergency pain meds. Let's just say by then it was an emergency!

This is just about all the sittting up I can handle.

Less than a week away

Sep 06, 2007

So it is 1:40am on Thursday night- more Friday morning! I went to support group tonight which really helped my nerves. I am starting to get really nervous about the upcoming surgery. My mom is flying in on Saturday and will be helping to "take care" of me during the first week and a half. I have to say, I am glad my mommy will be there- even if I am 26!
I am working on some Self healing skills to both calm my nerves, and to stop food cravings.
I have to admit that I am fighting off the "Last Meal" mentality!

Surgery Date take two! NEW DATE!

Aug 06, 2007

So Tony called me this morning and asked me if I wanted to change my date by two weeks. I of course jumped at the chance to have to sooner! My new date is September 12th!

Now having said that, I am such a chicken. About an hour after my date was changed a had a tiny break down. It is almost like having 7 weeks to plan and get things done was engrained in my head and now that I only have 5 weeks it freaked me out a little.
Lucky this site is great - being able to talk to others who have had it done has made it a bit easier for me.

I know I am doing the right thing, that I have a good surgeon, but that still doesn't take away all the scary things.

Thanks everyone!

I have a surgery date

Aug 03, 2007

So I just found out today that I have a surgery date. I will be having my surgery on September 26! Wow! I can't believe that I finally have a date! I am feeling so many things right now, excited,  eager, scared, worried. I know having the surgery is the right thing but it is still a scary thing to do to your body.

Currently I have lost about 24-25 pounds on my own since I began the WLS process! I am pretty proud that I was able to both meet and pass the required 20 pounds of weight, I was asked to lose.

7 and a 1/2 weeks!!!

The Waiting Game

Jul 19, 2007

I first saw Dr. Hess in the beginning of April 07. Since then I have done all my testing, visits, blood work, and all those other good things.

Now is it mid July... I have lost about 22 pounds on my own! Go me! I am now waiting to hear back from my insurance and then get a surgery date.
