Let me start by saying that my height is 5 foot 5 inches and at this point in time, I'm not sure what my weight is...but the last time I was weighed, I weighed 325lbs. and my BMI was 54.3.
My story begins when I was a sophmore in high school. I was a little bit overweight, but at that time I didn't think it was that bad...until one day while practicing our moves for marching band, some of the girls were making fun of my pant size...I was wearing a size 34 shrink to fit levi's and as you know, they show the size on the tags at the back on the waist bands. So, that was when I decided to lose some weight. I told my mom what had happened and at that time, my sister was on weight watchers...so she would bring me her books and I would follow the diet for the next 6 to 8 weeks. I went from a size 34 shrink to fit to a size 28 shrink to fit. To me that didn't seem like it was that much, but when I ran into a very good friend of mine that I hadn't seen since school let out that year in the store and he didn't recognize me, I realized then that it was pretty significant. I didn't have any problems with my weight from then until I had my son. When I was pregnant with him I went from 117lbs to 204lbs. After his birth I lost that weight and got back down to a size 7...I was happy with that and stayed that way until a few months before I got pregnant with my daughter, at which time I was wearing a size 9 and 11. Once I had her I was wearing a size 20 - 22. After having her I got back down to a size 11 again. Then got pregnant with my 3rd child, who I only gained 40lbs with. After having her I wore a size 11 and 13 until my husband and I moved to New Mexico. It was then that I started gaining weight and couldn't seem to lose it no matter how hard I tried. At that time I tried weight watchers again along with several other diets. I would lose and then gain it right back and then more...the yo-yo dieting effect. This went on for quite some time and eventually caused my cycle to get screwed up...I finally went in to see the gynecologist and he sent me in for some tests to get done...once the results were in...the next day...he called me and told me that I needed to have a hysterectomy. I was scheduled for the next week. After that, I gained and gained....and it didn't matter what I did after that I could not seem to lose any weight. Diet and exercise seemed to have no effect on it. So, here I am today and very much ready to start my journey to a healthier happier me!!
