I never really struggled with my weight until I got my first job after high school graduation. There was a sub sandwich place down the road from the bank where I worked, and I'd eat there several times a week. I had never really watched what I ate, never made sure I had the proper amount of fruits, vegetables, proteins, fats and carbs. Just ate whatever I wanted. Both my parents have struggled with weight and I noticed after my second job that I was putting on pounds. At graduation I weighed about 135 and wore a size 10-12, upon starting my second job I was up to a 12 and when I got pregnant with my son I was up to a 14. I never really lost the pregnancy weight and by the time I was pregnant with my daughter, I was up to over 200 pounds.

After giving birth to my daughter, I gradually packed on the pounds, went through a divorce, and packed on more pounds. I finally decided to join WW with my mom and dad. I was up to 270 then and got down to 202. Then my thought process of measuring and eating the right things got derailed and I packed the weight back on.

I have been contemplated WLS for several years and finally decided to pursue it on 12/9/13 when I had my initial consultation. I talked with the dietician and told her that carbs are a real monkey on my back (rice, pasta, potatoes, bread!) She told me that there are carbs in most foods, but white flour carbs and anything that grows underground are bad carbs for me. So I went home, packed up all the bad carbs that I had in my house and gave it away.

I started exercising on my stationary bike, which has 4 workouts (the uphill peddling is a beast), and I am very proud that I am following through with this. I also plan on using my "Walk Away The Pounds" DVDs and maybe trying some stretching exercises.

I look forward to my WLS journey, meeting new people on OH and becoming a loser.
