Hoop...jump! Hoop...jump! Hoop...

I had my consultation with the bariatric nurse; Sally Green at Henry Ford Health today.  It went well.  I'm still fat.  She went over my application and the other steps I need to complete for surgery.  She took "before" pictures.  She tried telling me I had a "hernia" that she could see through my jeans and I was just like...WTF...I've had 3 kids, it's called a "Mother's Apron."  But besides her being somewhat rude to misdiagnose my fat roll as a hernia, I got a little emotional over the whole process.  I'm going to be thin.  I'm going to be able to run.  I will be able to jump on my hubby's back for a piggy back ride.  I won't be tired.  I will be able to play with my children at the park.  I'm so flippen excited!!  My boys need their mama.  My husband needs his confident happy wife.

So what comes next?  My medical clearance exam with my primary doctor is tomorrow at 2pm.  The doctor will fill out a form that my bariatric nurse faxed her today.  She will fill it out, sign it and fax it back to nurse Sally.  Other things that need to be done prior to sending out for insurance approval:

9/27/11 - required bloodwork
10/3/11 - psych eval
10/4/11 - required pulmonary function test
10/5/11 - 6 hour wls class
10/13/11- meet with surgeon

after those are completed, they will submit this to my insurance company.  Insurance approval averages about a week for UM Premier Care.  Once approved, I get my surgical consultation for a surgery date and then pre-op surgery testing and viola, Roux-N-Y!  After surgery, 1x a week post-op wls suport group meetings :D

completed thus far:
8/22/11 - bariatric orientaiton
9/12/11 - primary care provider referral
9/26/11 - bariatric nurse consultation
