Happy 2014

Jan 16, 2014

As you should know this is a path for LIFE!

I am working hard to lose the last 30 lbs

Sleeve surgery was a wonderful tool after the band had failed but I need to do a lot, choose better foods and work out!

I actually (ashamed to write but have too) GAINED 15 lbs after losing about 35... so now I am FOCUSED and determied to reach my goal weight...

When I had the Lap Band my goal weight was 160

Now I am going for 145 - 150

Hope you are all focused too!

2 weeks after the sleeve and 20 lbs down

Nov 07, 2012

I am so happy with my sleeve journey! God opened every door... Dr. Pleatman in Michigan was very nice... very straight forward, very knowledgeable...  I flew in on MOnday from CT and saw him in the PM... had surgery on Tuesday... everyone in the hospital was wonderful! I woke up with AL LOT OF PAIN... I think it was gas... after I was medicated it was regular discomfort from laparoscopy surgery... I had too much scar tissue from lap band surgery and was at risk for a leak so I had a drain for 7 days... HATE IT! it pulled on my skin... but nothing terrible... on Monday he removed the drain and if it wasn't for hurricane Sandy I would be home... I was down 12 lbs in the first week... another 8 for the second... I am following the diet to a T... easy after 6 years of Lap Band... I cant wait for the rest of the extra 30 lbs to be gone.. and then.... it will be gain!!!! Dr. Says 155.... I say 135! Will keep you posted!

Sad update... but there is a light at the end of the tunnel...

Oct 02, 2012

after 5.5 years with my beloved band, I had a slip... they couldnt fix it...and it was taken out... I was 176 when it was removed on July 17th... I have tried really hard not to gain weight but I am close to 190... this scares me to DEATH!!! I am in the process of researching about the sleeve... PRAYING IT WORKS!!!!

update!

Feb 09, 2011

Hi all! I used to HATE when people did not post for a long time, but here I am doing the same thing...

I always knew this would be a fight everyday of my life, and it has... I am today 4 years out and completely satisfied I chose the lap band as a tool to help me be at a " normal" size...

Today I am about 185 lbs... That is about 20 to 25 lbs from my goal and I still believe I can get there...

(Much better than 292!)

I am completely obsessed with ZUMBA and burn many calories that way... I also started running on a few 5K and did one half marathon which was a killer!

I am active and happy, and THANK GOD very healthy…

My band issues are a little heartburn if I eat too late or the band is too tight…

I might try tightening it a bit soon

I cannot even fathom not having my band… it has saved me from myself!

Hope you are all working hard with your tool as well… and remember…

It will NOT do the work for us, but it does HELP us keep on track….

Love to all!

Hi! Nov 18th, 2010

Nov 17, 2010

I am still here, still fighting! still making bad choices and then coming to my senses... I am about 182 lbs... if you notice that is way higher than my all time low of 173, but I got as high as 204 when my band was completely deflated for 6 weeks... SO...
I still LOVE my band and owe everything to the GOD who directed me to it.

I am not as tight as I like, because it gives me night cough and that is not good at all... so I am working hard to make good choices and exercising....

Life is much better when you are not 292 lbs!

GOD IS GOOD!

tchau!

OMG! so much to say...

Jan 24, 2010

today is Jan 23 2010... almost 3 years and I wish I could say it gets easier but it doesnt... as we all know maintaining is very difficult... I am actually 16 lbs heavier than my lowest of 169... I am working hard, but confess it is hard to make the right choices... I also had a scare of a port leak and had my band totally deflated for a month and now we are slowling putting fluid back in but still do not have the right restriction...
numbers:
286 highest - 169 lowest today 185.5

4.5 band
with 2.0 fill... cant wait for another one!
I will keep you all posted I promise... this site has been a huge help and I need to be back...

long time no see...

Aug 26, 2009

It has been a while and here is what I have to add:

I went for a .1 fill, they offered me .2 and I was GREEDY and took it... a while after that I started feeling like drowning when I was sleeping, a liquid would come up and I would cough... bad sign, so I went out and took .1 out... FELT GREAT!!!!

My friend had a slip and I started thinking I needed to actually see my band, but since the Upper GI is radiation and I was not having any serious problems, I was advised against it... OUT OF NOWHERE I became EXTRA tight, vomited several times a day for several days, got down to 168.5 but it was unhealthy, and we want to make sure that the band is healthy and not being in jeopardy, so I started asking for the UPG - ALL OF A SUDDEN I was OK - could eat anything... even bread... I panicked that something bad happened, since I have read that a slip causes loss of restriction... I took 0.1 out and went for an UGI - I could eat a cow! No restriction! Gained 10 lbs in 10 days (HATE IT) and once found out that the band is A OK!!! PRAISE GOD!!! I went back for my fill, to my surprise I only had 1..4CCs in instead of the 2.4 CCs we all thought I had... something happened when I took 0.1 out, maybe the syringe wasn’t in all the way and that is why I was so loose.... I am better now, and can't wait to have my 0.1 back... when she gave me back my fill it was only the 1.0CC missing in action...

LESSON OF THE DAY: the band is a tool that needs to be cherished and cared for! It works and without it I would be back at 286… some people can understand when it is time to stop… I can’t and the band let’s me know I have to stop… it is my lifeboat!

I pray to GOD that it be healthy and working properly all the days of my life, and I THANK GOD for having the chance to have it…

I also pray for any heavy person that walks in front of me, hoping that one day they will be directed to an answer!

Today I am at 178ish I will keep you all posted of my progress… this site is so important, why do we go away with time????
