HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Great Job

Marie R. 20 years, 5 months ago

I am 11 months post op, still trying to hit the century club (5lbs away). In July, I started having major problems with my back and now I have to have surgery to fix my...get this...spondylolisthesis, (don't ask me to pronounce it) and a slipped disc!. It's affected my ability to excercise and it really put the brakes on my weight loss. I try to do some walking everyday, but the pain can be excruciating. My poor 7 y/o daughter can't understand what's going on. She asked me to gain my weight back so we can have fun again. The poor thing, I kept telling her after my wls that we would be able to do so much, and she's just not seeing it. Now I'm telling her after my next surgery we ought to be able to do things together again. All in all, I have no regrets about wls, and I guess it's better that i'm minus 95lbs going into this next surgery

1/5/03- I am one month post op today. I don't know how much I've lost so far, but when my 6 y/o daughter hugged me last night she said "Mommy, my hands reach each other!" Life is GOOD!

I am home now, and I have to say that this was much better than I could have hoped for. I had very little pain (thanks to my friend the morphine drip). I've only taken pain meds 2 times since they pulled the drip early yesterday. I expected this to be much worse, what a pleasant surprise! There was another girl who had the same surgery earlier in the day (the same day as me). We were not able to get the same room (we spent the night together in recovery, as there were no beds in ICU and our doctor requires 24hrs post op observation). It was strange to see the totally different kind of care we got at the same hospital, on the same floor but different wings. Pretty strange. Anyway, I'm feeling great and I'm looking forward to the road ahead. Now i'm going to go have me some jello (can you believe i didn't get a drop of jello while i was in the hospital)? Thank you all again for your support and prayers. It really helped.
