First two weeks post-op

May 19, 2010

t's  been a while sent, I update my page, and now I am five-month  posts ops after my RNY surgery.  What could I say other than this was the best dession that I have made in my entire life.

I had my surgery on Dec 21, 2009 around 7:00 am at Sibley Hospital. I thought that my surgery was going to be cancel because  Washington Metro area was hit with a Snow storm, but the snow didn't show this surgery and Thank you Lord
that it was successful.  I woke up in ICU and there was my best friend looking at me!!! Thank you honey for being there to support me.  What would I do without you?  I was up to a few hours later walking all around the ICU Department, and talking and watching TV.  I wasn't going to let fear enter  my mind all I keep staying to myself was by his strips I am healed!!!!!

The next day around 12:00 I was taken from ICU and I when to a regular floor with there I met a you lady who had the same surgery I had five years previosly.  However I told her I had to get up and walk, so I ask her do she want to walk with me and there we was walking and talking just about he the whole day.

On the 23rd I was release from the hospital and I was a in pain from the ride home but I took the pain medication and I when to sleep and that’s all I did that day, But on the 24th it was X-mas Even and I didn’t want to be in bed so I sitting in the living room watching TV, and sleeping all day!!! But I was in bed. 25TH Xmas mooring I was starting for feel a lot better that ride home was like worst than the surgery itself. I didn’t cook but I was walking already the house I had everyone gifts stage around the house before I went into the hospital but I had a great day. I was feeling good I was walking all thru the house I was so really to get out the house. I felt like I had cabinet fever 26th I when to Potomac Mills!!!! I walking for 3 hours after that I could take one more step but the walking really helped a lot. I truly believed it help me recover really fast. 27th I stop taking the medication and just walked, until I could walk every day until January 3rd. January 4, 2010 I when back to work I took it very slow but I walked around the office every chance I had. Please note when I got tried I stop but I push myself to make myself do thing that I knew for sure wasn’t going to kill me!!! January 5, 2010 I went to my doctor appointment and my first post ops support meeting. Everyone including the doctors was surprised that I just had surgery 10 day before but I was feeling really good about myself and I tell the walking good for my soul, and I didn’t walk slow I walking fast but I knew it what I had to do. MIND OVER MATTER!!! I had something to prove to myself. I lost my first 10 pds!!! I feel good about this.
