First post-op post!

Aug 18, 2013

Well for those who are pre op, and need to go on the optifast diet before hand... I am going to be honest...which a lot of people don't seem to tell you, IT SUCKS! IT SUCKS HARD! I found it so difficult, especially the first 5 days. I know everyone says that you need to be able to do this or you cant make it post op.. well I am sure further down your post op life this is true, but right now Hell no! I am now officially 1 week post op and I am not hungry at all... I have to remind yourself to eat which seems crazy to me... So opt you are hungry and cranky and have to remind and constantly convince your self NOT to eat.

So I made it through the Opti, and the am of surgery I was an emotional wreck..crying and feeling guilt because of my son, but having to remind myself that this is not only for me, but for him as well... Right after surgery I was pretty nauseated, and in pain, but I will tell you each day gets better.... so at one week out this is about what I am able to tolerate. In the morning I have about 1/2c of oat bran or oatmeal, with about 125mls of protein shake. more protein shake in the morning as snack. For lunch I have 1/2c of soup with again 125ms of protein shake. then ore protein shake for a snack, or some plain Greek yogurt. Again some soup and protein shake for supper, and finish off the yogurt for a snack, to the day I drink about 500mls of water, and my vitamins. It takes a lot of work to get that all in!!!

Each days I feel better and better and am so grateful for this gift that has been given to me.... I am super excited to see where this journey takes me!

Cheers until next time!
