sometimes life takes a turn
Aug 21, 2011
August 21, 2011. Its been over four years since I posted last. I have gained back alot of weight. I started the work for a revision last year and how to get insurance referrals. Seven months ago I was given an appointment and visited Bluegrass Bariatric, they did an edg and decided that the only thing they could do for me and my 3 or 4 hernias was to do a lap band and see how that works. Unfortunately my revision type surgery is limited to one per lifetime so if the lap band fails, i'm screwed. I talked with my general practitioner in tears and told him there had to be something else to do or at least if I got a second concurring opinion I would be more accepting. While waiting to find someone to get a second opinion on, I continued to do all the hoops the insurance company requires, monthly weight loss visit, psychological profiles and what not. Even though five months into this process my insurance company tells me I don't have to do that, I went on and finished so that if they started to require it as a condition we could hand it over to them.In July I met Dr. Margaret Inman and while I wanted to look at Duodenal Switch surgery, it could not be done because of the way my Roux was done. Friday I went up to Indianapolis for my revision class and now await the insurance approval process. Of course I am anxious and scared. I'm 11 years older and my health is the pits. Lots of co-morbidities plus newly acquired asthma and stress/panic attacks.
I think once I hear something from insurance i'll be alot better. I want to get this behind me so I can feel better and do more with my kids. I miss playing with them.
