8 1/2 Months Out

Sep 11, 2008

I am doing really well with everything. There are very few days where my stomach bothers me. I'm now wearing a size 10/12 and a L or sometimes even M shirt!! I'm 15 lbs away from my goal of weighing 150. More importantly, we are really starting to talk about getting pregnant and this is very exciting for me. This surgery has changed my life and it is really the best decision that I have ever made. I have gotten myself back. I never ever want to take being me for granted again. My husband is so glad to have a new me. This is a me that he has never known, since I weighed about 190 when we met. I'm happy, very happy. I'm working out more. I have a Wii and so I use the Wii Fit and it's great. I have noticed that I lose some amount of weight every single day when I am working out (even if it's just a few ounces). So, I'm trying to use that piece of info. to keep me motivated. Vitamins are good. I had blood taken 2 days ago to check my levels. I should have an update tomorrow or the next day. Take care all...

6 Months = 100 lbs!

Jul 02, 2008

I weighed this morning and officially hit 100 lbs. lost! I am so so excited about meeting this goal. I've been to my check ups and everything is on track. I have 30 more lbs to go to be at Dr. Higa's goal for me. More importantly, I am feeling really great and looking good too. I am complimented everywhere I go, which feels odd for a change, but I do enjoy it. I'm wearing mostly size 14, but I did fit into and wear some size 12 jeans the other day. Shirts are L and XL. I feel like I'm right on track or even ahead of the game and I am pleased. I've been better about vitamins, water and excersize. If everything looks good for my November check-up, Higa's nurse Alice told me that I could start thinking about babies! So exciting!

Hair Loss @ 4+ Months

May 13, 2008

I am experiencing some hair loss, but I started this process with abnormally thick hair. My hair dresser says it won't hurt for me to shed some. I have to say, it is troubling to see the hair come out in my comb after a shower, but I know that it is just a typical part of this whole experience. I've been better about vitamins and protein. My weight is currently 203, which means that I have lost 77 lbs and I am just 3 lbs away from my mini-goal, which was so loose 80 lbs by the time my students graduate on June 6. The weight loss has slowed, and I think I might be in a bit of a plateau, but I do still hope to meet this mini-goal.

3 1/2 Months Post

Apr 19, 2008

As of a couple days ago I'm 3 1/2 months post op. These past couple weeks have been really good with eating. No major hang-ups. I'm drinking yogurt for breakfast most mornings. I have lunch meat and cheese for lunch and dinner is sometimes cheese and crackers or small amounts of chicken or beef with veggies. About a week ago I ate 1/2 of a chile rellano. It wasn't a healthy choice, but boy did it taste good. I really have been keeping myself on track, so a little splurge here and there is ok in my book, as long as it's ok with my stomach.

The correction I need to make is about the "Obese" posting from last month. Turns out I misrepresented myself accidently. I am now considered "Severely Obese" instead of "Morbidly Obese"....I've still got a few more lbs. to go before I can drop all of the adjectives in front of the word Obese.

I'm wearing a 16 for the most part, and XL tops still. I've always had a large chest, so I'm not going to put all of my hopes on getting into a M shirt. If I reach a L I'll be content.

JUST Obese

Mar 22, 2008

I am no longer morbidly obese....I'm just obese. And for now...that's alright with me! Wearing a size 18...some of them are even a little loose, but not quite enough for a 16 to fit. I'm out of 1X shirts altogether, which means that I am either wearing XXLs or in some cases XLs...YAY!

2 1/2 Months Post

Mar 19, 2008

Eating is going well. I need to work more diligently on getting in my vitamins in. I am down 53 lbs total. My box of big clothes that I need to give away is growing, which is very cool! My husband is away right now for work so he only comes home on the weekends...every Friday night he says I keep looking better and better. That is a great feeling!

I hope to keep on feeling healthy and happy in the weeks to come.

2 Months Post Op

Feb 29, 2008

I'm feeling great. Wearing size 20 pants for the most part. Eating is trial and error. Quesadillas are my favorite right now. I am down 45 lbs as of this morning. Last week I tried salad for the first time...a cesar salad with fat free dressing. It went down better than I had expected. I am learning that on the days when I have trouble and feel sick...even if I get rid of what's in my stomach...I seem to have trouble for the rest of the day. Does that sound familiar to anyone that is reading this? I'm glad to see that all of you on my Friends list seem to be doing so well. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

6 Weeks Post

Feb 15, 2008

I am feeling great. I weigh each Friday....today it is 36 pounds lost total. I am very pleased with that number. The eating is trial and error, some things work and make me feel great, others seem to get stuck right in my esophagus. Either way, I don't mind the frustration of trying to figure things out. I haven't been excersizing as much as I should have, but I made a new promise to myself yesterday...so it's a new day and I have a great new elliptical that I need to break in.

One Month and One Day

Feb 04, 2008

I feel great. I weighed myself on Friday and I was down 27 lbs. I am only weighing myself once a week. I've forced myself to get sick a couple of times when food (mostly chicken) didn't feel very good going down. I haven't gotten sick on my own, though. I am officially staying away from chicken breast. I've had steak a couple of times and it was fine. My new drink of choice is Starbucks Passion Iced Tea with 2 sweet-n-lows. Love it! I've been really trying to stick to the rules...it seems to be working! I can't believe that I don't miss food more. I really thought that I would. I think I miss the idea more than anything, but seeing the changes in my body make every part of this worth it. I am already packing away three pairs of jeans that no longer fit. They are ridiculously baggy...which makes me feel great. I'm into a 22/24 instead of a 24/26.

3 Weeks Post-Op

Jan 24, 2008

I went to see Dr. Higa yesterday and ended up meeting with Alice...the RN. She is great! We talked a lot about food and portions and I learned so much just in meeting with her for 10 minutes. I am down 22 lbs. and so so pleased with that number. I have been eating ground beef, yogurt, potatoes, and fruit. I have not gotten sick at all and I'm so grateful for that. I tried chicken last night and I felt a little weird. I think for now I'll stick with the beef and lunch meat since all of that has been treating me just fine. I'm now allowed to start excersizing freely so I think my husband and I are going to buy an elliptical this weekend. I can't wait to try that!
