5 months out!

Oct 04, 2008

Well, I have not posted in a long while.  I am doing fine and adjusting to my new lifestyle.  I have no regrets what so ever.  I have lost a total of 76 pounds and have 57 to go till goal.

I got my date!!!

Mar 25, 2008

I went to PNH yesterday and my date for surgery is April 29th.  I got all my meds and I have an appointment on Tuesday morning for instructions.  I am so excited!  I just pray now that everything will go smoothly and there will not be any delays!

I got a Pre Op appt!

Mar 04, 2008

I received the phone call today to set up my Pre Op appt.  Yeah!!!!!!!!  March 24th is the day!  I had a feeling this morning that I was gonna get a call today.  I am so thrilled.  One step closer.

Almost there!

Mar 02, 2008

Well, I had to get my iron levels up before I could be released by the NUT.  I have been on supplements for almost two months now.  My levels went up and the NUT spoke with Dr. Mann and all is a go!  I called for my PRE OP APPT. and there are no appts. left for March!  I am the second person on the list for April.  I called and was told that I could probably plan on my surgery being sometime during the last two weeks of April. I am going to try very hard to keep off the weight I have lost so far.  I would hate to go in and have gained before my surgery.  I am  so ready to do this.  I want to get some painting done and the yard ready for spring before I have my surgery.  That should keep me busy for a while!

Getting Closer!!!

Jan 04, 2008

Somehow things got out of order for me at the Naval Hospital.  I had my labs done mid December, I had my Psyc. appt. last week(Prior to my appt. with Dr. Mann), and today I met with Dr. Mann.  He was so nice.  I had my EKG and Chest X-Ray's comepleted today as well.  My nut appt. is next week and I have an appt. for gall bladder ultrasound on the 29th.  Then, I can get a surgery date.  More waiting but I have tons of things I want to get done around the house prior to surgery so time will fly by.  I have conferences for the frist two weeks of February for work and inventory at the old job along with a ton of medical supplies to inventory and prepare for shipment.  So I will be very busy.  I am excited, scared, etc.  Probably a different emotion for every hour of the day.  People keep asking me if I am scared!  Enough already.  I am 100% sure I want to do this.  I have total peace about it.

Changes! Changes! Changes!

Nov 28, 2007

Lots of changes this month and lots more to come!  I have lost 31 pounds so far and am feeling great so I can only imagine what it will feel like to drop about 100 more!  I had my offical last day at my job of almost 12 years.  They are like a part of my family and I am finding it difficult to seperate myself.  I went to Atlanta for a week for the new job.  It did not seem like work at all.  I left a husband and four kids at home so it felt more like a break!  I enjoyed myself and was able to network with lots of people from all over the southern region.  I love my new job and much like my old job, the holidays are a very busy time for us.  I am so thankful that God has given me the opportunity to serve in this ministry.  I know it is not always going to be fun or easy but I know God's got my back!  I have a major inventory to complete and I want to get it done prior to my surgery so I know the next month is going to be insanley busy.  I have my labs scheduled for mid December, my Psyc. appt. for Dec. 26 and my appointment with the surgeon on December 27th.  I am so excited!  I am hoping for an early Jan. surgery date but I know that is pushing it.

My number is coming up fast!

Oct 26, 2007

I have given my notice at work.  Needless to say they were not exactly happy.  I have been there for 11 years.  I am sad to leave some of the people that I enjoy seeing everyday but I am excited about what God is doing in my life and I know it is time for me to make my move.  There will be adjustments, especially when it comes to money but I know he will provide.  I checked this morning and PNH is on #605!  I can not believe it.  I got on the scale this morning and I am down 30 lbs. and my Aunt Flo is visiting this week.  I am at work so I'd better get busy.

Where has the time gone!

Oct 03, 2007

I have been so busy with moving, getting the kids settled in to the school routine, trying my hand with a small home based business, and working on changing jobs that I looked up one day and there are only 18 people ahead of me on the waiting list at PNH.  I can hardly believe it.  I am so excited.  I have lost 26 lbs since I weighed in back in April.  Still have plenty left though!  I am trying my hand with a small home based business.  It does not require much and I do not plan to get rich but a few extra bucks each month will be nice.  I will post about it later.  I have been praying for years to be able to leave my job and work full time in ministry.  Well, it looks like the doors have opened up for me so along with the WLS coming soon, I will have a new job!  God is good I tell ya.  I am in a rush but will post the details later.  Thanks everyone on the boards for all the info and support.

The waiting is so hard!!!

Jun 22, 2007

Well, I have been trying to make the best of the waiting game.  The numbers at the Naval Hospital are hardly moving at all!  I am believing that by Thanksgiving, I will be on the losers bench, in a good way!  I am spending lots of time lurking on the boards, reading as much as I can about WLS.  I have been trying to prepare myself for what is to come.  I have been eating much better and have cut way down on sodas.  I have been drinking lots of water and I love the SF drink mixes for my water.  I am not much of a milk person, so I need to find a protein source.  I have been trying different SF products and the kids even seem to like them.  So we all win!  My honey wants some help with the yard work, so I better go for now.

The journey begins...

May 17, 2007

March 07- I called and emailed Tricare to see what was covered.  I received two different answers.  I liked the idea of going to a civillian doctor so I made some calls and was scheduled for a seminar on April 17th.  I posted a question on OH about Tricare Prime, and everyone was saying they had to go to PNH.  I did not like that idea and so I called Tricare again.  The lady told me I could go to a civillian surgeon as long as he was a network provider.  Great, I made sure Tidewater Surgical was on the list.  I went to my PCM, we discussed WLS and he wrote the referral for Tidewater Surgical.  A few days later I get the referral and it says PNH!  I was so upset.  I called PNH bariatric clinic and asked a few questions.  My greatest concern was the long waiting list.  I was so ready to switch to standard and pay the out of pocket expenses.  The young lady explained to me that whenever a referral is put in, the MTF has the option to override and provide the treatment.  OK.  I was upset and she was so nice.  She told me how wonderful the program at PNH was and she encouraged me to give it a try.  Due to some cancelations, I was able to get into the seminar at PNH on April 12th.  I went and it was so informative.  I felt better about going to PNH.  I received my number, 615!  WOW.  It seems like it will be forever before my number comes up. They were on number 506 when I started and a month later, they are on 529.  I ended up getting hurt at work on April 13th so I would not have been able to go to the seminar on the 17th!  I took that as a sign that I was in the right place.
