I have struggled with my weight since I was around 21 years old. I have yo-yo'd with my weight. Tried all kinds of diet and exercise programs. Luckily I do not have any health issues usually associated with being obese. However, I began having severe joint pain (knees) and it just continued to get worse and worse. This past Christmas (2007) I could not even enjoy the season. I was in constant pain, could not walk (to shop) or stand long periods of time (to decorate my home). I was depressed and had enough.
Gastric bypass was something I had looked into before, but never really thought it was for me. Then I started to speak to a friend of my sister who had the procedure done and was doing fantastic. After much consideration, research and soul searching, I decided to go to the facility that my sister's friend recommended.
My sister went with me to my consultation. I met with Dr. Boe and he was fantastic. He took the time to explain everything. Answer every question and put our fears to rest. After my consultation, I just knew this was the right decision. I am now in the process of obtaining pre-certification from my insurance company and scheduling all the preoperative tests. I am so excited and can not wait to be able to post that I am post-op and on my way to my new self!!!
