I married young and that was my first mistake. It was a bad marriage but I stayed with him for 8 years (married for almost 6). I went from 200 pounds to 300 pounds in that time. I FINIALLY got divorced and with that added stress I gained a little. I lost some weight after I started dating my current husband. We found out I was prego and got married. I then went over 300 again. My dad fought cancer for the next 3.5 years. I gained more weight with that stress. I then lost my dad at the young age of 52. Only a year and a half later, I lost my baby sister at the age of 26. Again, more stress means more weight. I hit 398 and never went on a scale till I knew there was weight coming off.

Summer of '06 we went to Kings Island for a family fun day. Well little did I know that, that day would be a life changing day. I went on several rides with my husband and daughter. We was having a blast. Then we went to go onto the Fairly Odd Coaster. I was talking to them and talking about how much fun we was having. Well the lap bars needed to be locked so we could go. Mine would not lock. I was too big for the ride!!! :(  I then had to get off the ride and watch my husband and daughter go off without me. I just wanted to cry. I held it up and pretended that I was ok. I didn't want my misfortune to ruin their fun.

I started with a consult March of '06. I started with a dietican April of '06. I went from over 400 pounds to 245 pounds. I went back in for revisit since my old surgan was no longer at the Barix Clinic. I go to meet a great doctor and I was down to 240 at that time. I got my approval for surgery from my insurance 12-11-06, on my anniversary after my husband and I had just come home from a great dinner where I got my mother's ring. 1-30-07 I had my PAT. 2-20-07 I had surgery and was 337. I then left the hospital at 347. I had major swelling and couldn't keep much down. I then got 2 infections in my mouth. Small percentages that this would happen but it did to me. My swelling got better and about 4 months out I could feel a HUGE difference. At my 6 month appointment, I found out I was 100 pounds lighter and doing great.

July 5, 2007, we went back to Kings Island. I went one more of the same rides and was ahving a blast. It was time to face my fears and go back onto the Fairly Odd Coaster. I got in line and we all talked about the fun that we was having. Man its just like last year, my heart was in my throat. We got onto the ride and I teared up. What if I couldn't lock the bar again. I didn't know if I could handle it. Well I pushed the bar down and there was no click. I freaked out. I thought for sure it didn't lock, but it did. The lady came over and tugged on it like they always do. Last year it came right up, so I was so nervous. The bar was locked and didn't come up. So off we went. I was ridding the very coaster that had defeated me only a year ago. Talk about the best feeling of your life. The only thing that was better was the moment that I saw my daughter after she was born. I then went on four different rollercoasters. I fit into them and had a great time.

It took the rollercoaster to show me that I'm not the same 400+ pound person that I was. I knew the numbers and knew there was weight coming off. It didn't hit me till that day that I was no longer the same. That I was 150+ pounds lighter and feeling great.
