I have always been overweight. I decided in 2001 that I would look into gastric bypass. I attended a seminar and decided I wasn't ready for gastric bypass surgery. I didn't have any health problems so I considered myself a healthy fat person. Heck, I didn't even get colds. I started Weight Watchers and lost 50 pounds right away! I was walking 5 miles a day and riding my bike another 5 miles a day. I just knew I had taken control of my weight issues. I was WRONG! I gained back the 50 pounds and more. Then I found out that I was diabetic. The diabetes didn't hit me at first since I didn't need medication. Even after I had to use pills to regulate my diabetes, I still didn't think I need gastric bypass surgery. Now I am also on pills for high blood pressure. I wasn't thinking about the surgery but a friend was looking into it. She wanted me to go to Dr. Gluck's seminar. I called and got put on the list. That was the best thing I have ever done for myself. After listening to Dr. Gluck I know that this was the man that could help me take control of my life. I no longer qualified for medicaid so we were going to get insurance through my husband's work. They carried Priority Health, which is well known for approving the surgery. Then Priority Health dropped his employer! The new insurance they were getting were well known for turning everyone down for gastric bypass. I was so upset. I went to my mother's house sobbing. I thought that was the end of my future. Then my mother and step father decided that they would loan me the $15,000 for the surgery! I couldn't believe it! I immediately went to Dr. Gluck's office to pay my program fees and get an inital appointment. Just so happens...they had a cancelation. I got in right then. Talk about God opening doors! Dr. Gluck has waived his office fee for me each time I see him since I don't have insurance! Another door opened! I was scheduled for April 16th. Then I got a call saying they needed to reschedule my surgery. I was so upset...until they told me I could have the surgery April 2nd! Another door opened by God! I had surgery and haven't had any complications. I recovered extremely fast. I am hiking and biking with my kids already! I am down 50 pounds and it is only 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. I did lose about 35 before surgery. God has done so much. He has used Dr. Gluck and his staff as blessings for so many people. I can't wait to see what else God has in store for me next!
