3 Days POST-OP

Jan 30, 2011

Good morning friends...

Today marks my 3rd day Post-Op. I'm feeling decent this morning. I still am having some incision pains, and some pesky gas pains, but those will go away soon enough. As you all know, Friday was my surgery. When I woke up in the recovery room I had a CPAP mask on (which they told me was normal).. but I was in a world of hurt! I was in and out for a while, but finally I was able to stay awake and they took off the mask. Eventually I was brought back to my room, where my mom already was. My surgery was at about 1:15pm, and I was back in to Recover by 2:15pm I believe. However, I didn't get back to my room until just before 5:30pm. That's when I was in the most pain. It hurt so bad... I was finally given a pain killer and that helped. It wasn't until later on in the night, well more like early Saturday that I started to feel better, but I was still in pain.

The doctor came by around 11am to check on my mom and I. He asked if I was still in any pain - and I was so he recommended I stay another night in the hospital which I was perfectly fine with. I was NOT ready to go home. However, my mom was feeling pretty good and ended up being discharged Saturday. She left the hospital around 1:30pm. I was in and out of sleep all day so I didn't really see her when she left. We did share a room at the hospital, so that was nice. I missed her when she left!

By Saturday evening I was feeling better, and so they had me get a shower. After that shower I felt SO GOOD. GET A SHOWER AT THE HOSPITAL!! No matter how much you don't wanna get one, just do it! It helps you feel so much better.

About 11am on Sunday the doctor came by again and he said he could tell I was feeling better and told me I was going to be discharged. I was happy. :) I ended up leaving the hospital around 1pm. I was given 3 prescriptions, so since we were an hour from home, we just went right to the pharmacy before coming home. The ride home was tough at times, but it did help with the gas pains, because it helped me fart! I've never been so happy to fart, lol. It eases the pain a lot better then burping.

Oh another thing... the day of surgery I weighed 303lbs... when I got home from surgery I weighed myself and I was 303.8. THAT'S NORMAL. Don't be alarmed if you weigh more when you get home, then you did the day of surgery. It's from all the gas and what not.

Well, I could type for days, but will end this here. Perhaps I will write more tomorrow.
