Hi Everyone,
I've been "lurking" on the DS board and find it so full of information and support.
My story is like many of yours, life of battling my wieght. I started gaining weight as a young girl following abuse. I was a fat little girl who made everyone laugh!
I remember being about 10 when my mom bought me a girdle! She's never had a weight problem and didn't know how this to handle my situation. She would serve me crackers and jello and everyone had cake & pie. This began my journey and my relatinship with food. I felt like something was wrong with me... Of course after years of therapy, I know the truth.
I am 55 with a DH, 2 grown sons, 2 wonderful DILs and 4 gsons. I've been blessed!
In 03 I was diagnoes w/ FMS. This has been one of the most painful (no pun intended lol)
experiences in my life! My hope is to have a positive experiemce from my DS surgery as did 2 others women.
I decided last year to have WSL. In my city, only lap band and RNY are offered and I thought that was all that was available.
A couple of weeks prior to my WSL surgery, my GYN DR said I should have a hysterectomy first to clear up some problems and check for cancer. I had a complete hyster. in July and I'm glad to report that all is clear and good.
I am now ready to have my WSL, but now my insurance has changed. The only DR I've found who accepts Medicare is in Delano, CA. From what I have been able to find out, the DR and facility are the best. The surgery cordinator is off for 2 weeks, so I have to wait.
In the meantime, I've found the DSers! Wow! I'm so grateful that the Lord lead me to the procedure and this site.
