I just turned 29 this year and on my birthday, I had an epiphany about my life. I decided to lose this extra weight I've been packing around and join the Army by the time my next birthday rolled around. My hubby is already active duty and I've got his support in this endeavor. We have 3 kids and they are my life.

So, one may wonder why a married mom of 3 (who needs to lose 100 lbs) would just decide to up and join the military? There are a couple of reasons involved, but simply, I want to make a difference - in my life and in other soldiers' lives. I have always wanted to be a respiratory therapist and that's my goal in the Army. Besides, what college would pay me to train and learn? haha!

On the serious side, I watched a documentary about our troops getting wounded by IEDs in Iraq and Afghanistan and felt moved to do something. I also want to give myself and my children something to be proud of. All my life, I've stayed on the sidelines and did what other people wanted me to do, but that caused nothing but trouble. This is for me, to prove to myself I can do it!
