I am a 43 year old woman who has been struggling with my weight since I hit puberty. I was able to keep it somewhat under control through high school and college by regularly dieting. It yo-yoed from about 125-150 until my first year of marriage when I ballooned up to 200 pounds and found myself pregnant with my first child. After that I never really regained control and would continue to gain (with a few losses of 25-40 pounds) until I reached my all time high of 262.
I have been blessed with a wonderful husband who loved me then and loves me now. He seems to be mostly oblivious to my size! I know many women don't have that and I truly do know what a blessing it is!
I have been trying to have WLS for about 3 years now. I had Blue Shield for my first 18 month attempt and after I jumped through all of their hoops they denied me anyway. I switched in January '08 to Kaiser and couldn't be happier with their program. I got in to the classes pretty quickly and completed them in December. I have an appointment with my surgeon Thursday, February 5th and I should get a surgery date then. I'm sooooo excited and sooooo ready.
