So, this will hopefully be the first of many blog entries on my page, as my hope is that, by sharing my ongoing journey, I can continue to help myself and others in the same position to continue to be successful!

Update since my initial “About Me” entry: Since I wrote that, I am now at 267 pounds! That is down a total of 150 pounds from my original weight of 417, and I feel wonderful! My goal is 250, and I’m looking at reaching that goal in the next 2-3 months. My rate of weight loss has slowed down, I’m now losing 1-1.5 pounds per week. That’s not unexpected, as the doctor and surgery staff told me that my weight loss rate would slow down after about 6 months.

As of about 1 month ago, I’m no longer on any blood pressure medication! A little over a year ago, I was taking 3 pills a day, so I am definitely proud of that accomplishment.

I’m now going to the gym every day, focusing mainly on cardio training, with some weight machines added in as well. My cardio consists of 45 minutes on the elliptical and, on the weight machines, I’ve been focusing on abs and upper body as that is where my excess fat from weight loss is still being stubborn. I’m also getting out and walking more since the weather has been nice, power walking around 4 miles at a time.

I know that I still have work to do, but I also know that I’m on the right path to get it done. This has been a fantastic long term investment in myself, and I look forward to continuing on my journey!
