I had a major slime episode this week mainly because I was distracted because of computer problems (thank you Yahoo Customer Care and Vista) and let myself get too hungry! By the time I stopped working and turned my attention to cooking I was ravenous. My band eating habits fell by the wayside, despite the lovely sauce over the salmon patty and wheat spaghetti. I shoveled salmon into my mouth like I hadn't eaten in a week! I ignored all signs that things were not well and then I looked down at my plate and "realized" that three-quarters of the pattie was gone and I wasn't feeling well!
As luck would have it an older friend of mine called from her car and needed me to be her "legs" for an hour or so. Her price for me to do the errands of putting gas in her car and picking up reserved books from the library, was to pull over to the curb every time I made noises like I was going to be sick, because I couldn't speak very well, nor figure out how to lower the window in her old car. It was one of the longest hours I have ever spent!
When it was over and we were back home, I discovered the salmon patty "had passed." I could talk. I was feeling a whole lot better.
Did I learn a valuable lesson? Oh, sure I did! Don't put off eat meals at regular times. It might get you in trouble. I am a believer now.

So far fills have been remarkable in the fact that they have problem free. The surgeon does them under fluoroscopy and is conservative in her approach and for that I am very thankful.

Received a phone reminder from Stanford on Sunday evening about my appointment on Wednesday afternoon for my first fill and felt kind of excited to be getting this "band show on the road, finally." Monday afternoon, on my way home in the car, I heard my cell ring, and I picked up the message when I got home. It was from Stanford cancelling my Wednesday fill appointment and rescheduling it for Wednesday, October 1 at 1:45 p.m. I guess, like everything else connected with Stanford, you have to wait. Since I've received no response to my phone call, I have returned to workouts with my weights which I had discontinued the day before surgery. My one victory as far as surgery was concerned was that I didn't let them do a liver biopsy, which I wouldn't have known about if another doctor hadn't told me about so I could put a stop to. . . it shortened my operation time and shortened my healing time too! Screw the doctors, they don't need to knick my liver to do their experiments!

Received a call from Jessica, the scheduling person at Stanford Bariatric Clinic, I need to re-do my Metabolic Panel as the one the clinic has is too old and the readings are too low. Well, yes they are, the panel was done in February and now this is June and my surgery was postponed from June to August so what do you expect? Oh and by the way, I've lost 30 pounds since February.

5-15-08 I feel disappointed today. Back in Feb. I was given a surgery date of June 23rd. Then last Thursday, I came home to find a message asking if I minded if my surgery date was moved up to June 2nd? I immediately returned the call and said yes and the message was taken. I called several more times with no response. This morning I received a call that my surgery was now rescheduled to Aug. 4! What Mickey Mouse you get from a doctor's office!
