Well, today I had my first post-op visit and I've lost 14 lbs since my first visit and 10 lbs since the surgery 10 days ago! I am excited but recognize this is just a tool.  Thank you Lord for  this wonderful gift! 
I've already stopped taking blood pressure medication and am just
monitoring to be sure I don't need it. The swelling in my legs is rare, like if I'm on my feet for a long time or at the Y walking.  Today, I wore
a blouse I haven't worn in about 8 months and it was loose! YEAH - this is awesome!  Candy, Linda, I've wanted to call you both this weekend and today, but it just didn't happen. I'm thinking about you 
both and wish you the best! 

Today is Monday 11.20.06 and I'm back at home. Surgery was Friday and it was textbook. My husband, daughter Jackie and dear friends Garland and Kathy were with me before hand.  Thank you G for praying with/for me - that was special and very important. Zola came to see me in pre - op as did several nurses, the anesthesiologist and Priscilla and Mario who were with me during surgery. My throat feels fine thank you Priscilla - and I must say I don't recall anything about PACU (I was awake once for barely a second). I remember getting into my room which was great. I remember G & K leaving, then Tom and Jackie leaving. I even remember walking at 1130 pm that night and 3am the next morning but I was in the ozone for sure.  

Dr Garth was great, the swallow test went well - my stomach 
pouch is TINY -but that's what it's supposed to be. The residents 
were great when I was dehydrated and I feel better now being at 
home. I am tired, but I am sure that's to be expected. I walked twice today and my daughter drove me to the store. (my first and last post 
trip for a while). 

I am so blessed to have so many people praying for me and for 
such a great surgeon. I am resting and doing everything I am
supposed to do. 

Thanks to all who posted and send me well wishes too. If I have not replied, please don't take it personally - I have been very tired, but I  
will respond soon.

Well - tomorrow is the beginning of my new life and I am really excited.
My husband, one of my daughters and two of my friends will be there with me. I know God has led me to this and will bring me through it. I can't wait to be on the losing side. 

Candy, I'm so happy your surgery went so well. Thank you for your support. Thanks also to those of you who have sent words of encouragement and support. They are greatly appreciated.

Today's colonoscopy was a breeze since I let them give me the versed and demerol this time. Usually I stay awake and watch but I was exhausted today. All went well and I'm getting closer to the losing side. My Optfast HP arrived today and the chocolate is delicious - I put 8 oz of water, a few ice cubes and the packet into my "Magic Bullet" (purchased on eBay for a song) and it was just like a chocolate shake.  Hope the vanilla is as good!

Liquid diet is going well - using Mycoplex lite and Slim Fast Low Carb until the Optifast HP arrives tomorrow.  However, I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow so today is "such" fun. I took my four ducolax tablets and at 5pm I begin the gallon of "ewwww yucky Trilyte". The remainder of the evening will be sitting!  What a great way to have surgery - empty! I suppose this is good practice - NOT. But one thing is for sure - I will never have to drink Trilyte again. Yeah!!

November 2, 2006  Just two weeks to go - I start my liquid diet tomorrow after verifying my surgery is the 17th! Yeah! It will be interesting to see how much weight I lose in the next two weeks.

October 31, 2006 Wow, I received a phone call today - I have a date - October 17, 2006 - I am so excited. I have really been looking forward to this and I hope the time flies between now and then.  Thank you Lord, for all these wonderful blessings!

10/30/06  Two individuals at my insurance company confirmed I have been approved. Yeah! They state the confirmation letters were mailed to Dr Garth and me on the 25th! That is a 2 or 3 day approval - awesome! For some reason, we received no mail today -so hopefully it will be tomorrow and then ..... a date for surgery! Thank you God!

I am very excited today because I learned they opened a file for me at my insurance company. There have been so many steps already, but this is progress.
