Well, I have been off the website for some time now and have decided to come back and update. Since I was here last I did find a local surgeon to meet. Dr. Anthony Coirin in Manteca, CA. I met with him at the beginning of the year (2003) and after becoming discouraged about dealing with my insurance I decided to attempt one last try at WL on my own. I started on the Atkins diet in July and by Oct had lost 43 pounds from my highes weight. I was very encouraged; however, to date havea gained back approximately 15 pounds. I am beginning to consider the possibility of WLS again after two family friends have had the surgery. I hope to get new info on the insurance approval regarding Aetna managed choice. Anyone have any comments? Looking forward to hearing from you! Susan

Well, I have my first couple of setbacks..I called my insurance today to confirm that the initial blood tests would be covered that Dr Felix had ordered and they told me that since he was out of the network of my PCP that I would have to have prior authorization (referral) from the PCP. My PCP isn't supportive of this; yet. I called down to Dr Felix' office and talked to someone (not 'Jan') who told me that I would probably need to follow what the insurance said then. I was so disappointed. Then, when I got to work today I was told that they needed me to work next week on Tuesday; the day of my appointment. I guess it just isn't meant to be yet...I'll still stay on my trek for this; one battle at a time! Susan

Hi All! Thanks for the Hello's! I am planning to attend the scheduled pre-op appointment on Oct 15th and will attend the meeting that evening. I am so anxious to find out how long it will be for me to get to the actual operation. I have been told by the office staff that it couldn't be done before Nov 1st, so I will have to wait until after the first of the year. Oh well...I'll learn patience! God bless! Susan

Good luck to you on the 15th. Dr. Felix has a wonderful reputation as a surgeon. You are in good hands. I will be having my surgery next month. Can't wait! You will be enjoying your new life soon!

Hi Susan! He is fabulous and so is his staff. I had my surgery on August 23 and would do it again in a heart beat! Good luck and be sure to ask lots of questions! If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. :)
