Catch Up Time...

I've been away from OH for a few years. Life got busy, I lost interest with the boards and the drama... but NEVER lost interest in the friends I've met here!

I'm almost 5 years out from my WLS - May/05. I went down to almost 150 from 280. It felt so good to be at 155 for a year... but my bad habits and changes in lifestyle got the best of me - I'm back at almost 200lbs now. Still much better than I started out, but disappointed in myself nonetheless.

I did not set good habits from the beginning. I amost immediately allowed sugar back into my diet... if you haven't, don't! Quickly after that was cakes and really soft breads... and then it was all down hill from there.

I started running for exercise - the need for more fuel increased my appetite and allowed me to "believe" that I could eat whatever I wanted because I was running so much. I did my first marathon in 2007 - and in training for that marathon lost zero lbs... I might have even gained a pound or two. I went on to do 4 more marathons and several half-marathons as well. I really did like running, but eventually didn't MAKE time to get out and run. I've hardly run at all in the last 6 months - which means zero exercise.

So now, with the new year, I'm working on getting back on track. It's not a resolution... but a short term goal to get my crap together. I'm not so much worried about weight loss as I am for making better eating choices and working exercise back into my life.

Not much else to say... I'll be trying to hang out here more, reading posts and posting when appropriate. Hello to all my old friends and new ones as well!
