Where to begin. I started gaining weight at the age of 13, after having my tonsils removed. Not much but I went from a bean pole to a little plump. I got married at 16 and weighed 145 pounds, which isn't too bad I guess. Went on the pill prior to getting married and gained 15 pounds right off the bat, we didn't think my dress was going to fit me. I thought I was fat at 145. Anyways, at 17 1/2 I had my first child, I gained 36 pounds with him but had it all off by the time I left the hospital. After that it seemed like weight just started piling on. So now, after five children later (all boys I might add) I find myself at the age of 48 I will be 49 in May and extremely obese.
I lost my father a couple years ago and gained another 40 pounds. I have never been so big in my life. My back hurts, and my hips kill me, which makes it very difficult to exercise or even walk. All of my joints are now hurting, fingers and even my toes. I have high blood pressure, taking medication for that and now they tell me I have sleep apnea. I don't have the machine yet, I would like to wait and see if that clears with the weight loss..
I had to do the weight trail twice, because the first doctor didn't put all the necessary notes that my insurance required. Then I got misplaced or fell through the black hole. Insurance denied me the first time, because they passed over the medical necessary letter then in January my insurance changed and then they needed some more documents from my doctor.
Finally, On March 6th I got my approval letter. Called Jan, the lady who schedules the surgeries and she said that I would be scheduled for somewhere around the end of April, they are backed up.
So that's where I am on this journey. I am looking forward to a new life without so much pain and restrictions on what I can do. I know its going to be a hard process but I am willing to do. I have had three others in my family that has this same procedure and they have all did really well I am hoping the same for myself.
