Hi everyone my name is Tammy. I am a 35 year old single mother of a 15 year old daughter. She is for the most part a good girl but she is indeed a teenager. My journey down the WLS road started actually about 4 years abo. I have been considering it for that long. I have done tons of research and knew that I wanted to do it. However it was not until January 2008 when I went out with a long time friend that I had not seen for a while. She was 18 mo post op and looked amazing. She had lost an entire person. So being able to talk to her about her surgery and process really helped me feel better about going ahead with my own WLS. It just so happens that I work for the University of MN so I was able to talk with the Dr that did my surgery on a more personal level which made me feel more comfortable. So in March 2008 I went to the initial conference and started my journey down the road to a new me. It actually took me all summer 2008 to complete all of the insurance requirements. It seemed like forever. But I managed and on Oct..13, 2008 I had the Laporoscopic RNY. I was in the hospital for 2 days. I actually had very little pain at all. I went in for my 1 week post op and my Dr was amazed at how good I looked. I was already wearing jeans by this time. My diet was advanced from liquid to pureed and I only vomitted twice the first 2 days while I was figuring out what I could and could not eat. That is all under control now and I am feeling wonderful. I went back to work 2 weeks post op. It was a little bit exhausting but I made it. Since the surgery I have lost 16 lbs but since March when I started I have lost 31 lbs!!!! I feel great and my surgeon is slowly adding my meds and supplements back in 1 at a time.
So this is my story as of Oct 30,2008 I will keep adding more as time goes on
