Well, I really don't know where to start. I have been over weight since I was about 6 years old. I'm gonna kinda sum up the past 3-4 months in this one post. During the first part of my marriage my husband and I were trying to have a child, and were unsuccessful (which ended up being a blessing, more on that later), so my OB did some test on me, and seen my sugar level and my thyroid level were WAY out of wack. So she sent me to Dr. Riche, and he strongly suggested if I wanted to live to see 35 (I'm 23) I need to have a DRASTIC weightloss, and the only way to do that is through the surgery. Well, in all honesty I have been contemplating the surgery for a long time, just needed to right door to open. So he referred me to Dr. Lord. My mom went with me to the seminar (at this point my husband didn't like the idea and fought me all the way) in Destin, because I only had certain days off, and can't get off work. At that time, I knew, that I completely trusted Dr. Lord and his staff... there was no turning back for me at this point. I went home, and I told my husband "you can either support me and go with me on this journey or leave." I had to do this for ME, no one else mattered at this point. He stayed, and would only make comments every now and again. I got my appts for the NUT and the Psycologist... they have been completed... I loved them both to death, I don't think I've met a person I dislike at that office or on this website. Its so amazing. I have to go get my chest xray and labs, yes, I am still putting off my chest xray and ekgs... but I am going to attempt to do them tomorrow. I have 3 of my PCP appts down... 3 to go, so technically, I am half way there!!! I am excited this has been an interesting journey for me, I have lost my husband (through nothing to do with this), a couple of my friends refuse to support me throught this (were they really friends anyways), but on the other side, I have GAINED so much. . . . and will continue to gain, the friends I have gained through the support meetings and this website... the knowledge, the new life I will gain... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
