Hi my name is Jan and I have been over-weight most of my adult life.. I was on the Phen-fen diet from 1995-1996 and lost around 40 lbs which was very good then they took it off the market and I gained all my weight back then some I decided then I was going to be heavy all my life..Then in 2003 I fell and damaged my left knee had 2 scopes done and my Orthopedic Surgeon told me I needed to lose weight or my knee repair wouldnt be of any good at that time I was 225 then in 2005 after thinking I might be able to deal with work again even though my left knee hurts alot THAN I was in a terrible car accident and damaged my left knee even more including my right knee I had 2 knee scopes done from that and once again my Orthopedic Surgeon said this will do no good if you dont get some of this weight off..So he encouraged me at the time to see about dieting even gave me a brochure to "Solutions For Life" for a possible Lapband or Gastric Bypass and of course at the time I was only on Medicaid so I kept hope eventually I could get something done..In the meantime I tried several other diet methods from WW's,TOPS,Curves to a few other diet drugs with no prevail I was like a yoyo..
Now,I am on Disability on Medicare and I am now at 263 lbs and I am hoping to see this surgeon in Norman Oklahoma for a Gastric Bypass~Lapband or something but I am in need of help..I have knee pain constantly can barely walk and have shortness of breathe when I do,a fatty liver,I am on thyroid pills now,my back and hips are hurting constantly,and I am having problems with my bladder now and I have already in the past (1983-1987) had 2 bladder pinups and I dont want another one..So my fingers are crossed that this comes true I am just waiting for the forms to fill out that the Surgeon from Norman is sending me get them filled out and sent back and set up a time to visit her soon..I called Medicare today and they said with my BMI and my health issues from weight issues I am more than likely approved so this makes me happy..
