It's been a few years but I am back. Band was taken out May 2008. Regained 80 lbs that I had lost when band was placed April 2007. On May 10, 2012 I had gastric bypass RNY and so a new journey begins.

Had to have my band removed on 5/13/08 because of unexplained abdominal pains and inability to hold down food .  I ended up at the ER and was given two different narcotics to control my discomfort.   All tests conducted were inconclusive, they did not show any problem with the band.  The only thing to try  was to remove the band and see if this helped.  It was the most depressing thing to happen to me. The decision to have it done consumed me for a couple of years. Since removed I have regained my health. I no longer have the excruciating pain and I am able to eat a normal diet.    Dr. Roye was there through it all and performed a flawless surgery.  I will be unable to have the band replaced due to scar tissue, so the rest of my journey is going to be up to me.  He says my weight is too low to have any other type of surgery. I plan on sticking with my nutritionist, Robin from RIH, because I trust her direction. From what I have been told, this is a very rare complication. 

I don't regret my decision one bit,  I just regret not doing this sooner.
