Plateau - Yuck

Jun 18, 2008

I seem to have reached a plateau and cannot get any further down. I really need to start exercising more I know but so far have not been able to make the time. I know, I know -- that is the only way to help this work. I also think I may be eating to much - but I do plan to go back the end of the month and see the doctor and see about another fill and then get my a-- in gear and get busy -- but until then please keep me in prayers and help me get my head back into this right.

Now onto a lighter note - my mom lives with me and she is going to be evaluated for the lap band surgery - I hope that she can get it and that it really helps her too. If she loses some weight she will feel better and that would help her to get rid of some of her health issues. Our only problem with this is going to be the guidelines for Medicare for weight loss surgery. I am going to have to check into them and set up the appointment. Since her supplemental insurance that picks up after Medicare will not cover Lexington Medical Center will have to use Dr. Ben Tribble at Palmetto Health and I have heard that he is really good as well as being a center of excellence also.

Okay enough for now - plan to get really involved on here again. So I will start posting again more often.

The Numbers are moving again!!

May 05, 2008

I have lost a total of 112 pounds now!! WOOHOO! I actually had a size 18 pair of pants on this morning! And that is awesome since I have not worn 18s in over 10 years!! I am so stoked. Since starting out at size 32 (5 and 6Xs) and now being here I am so amazed at how much my life has changed already! I have more energy and am able to do things with my grandchildren again. I can actually get on the floor with them and get up without a crane LOL! I am going to post a photo in a few minutes of me in my smaller outfit - I think it looks great.

Seem to be at a stand still

Well I have lost 95 pounds now but still wear size 22 and 24. I watch the television and see all these little women saying how they lost 25 pounds and so many dress sizes and wonder what is wrong with me. I have only come down from a size 32 to a 22!! And have lost 95 pounds!! Sometimes it is depressing but then I have to remember that I am so much better now than I was almost a year ago! I have such a loving and supportive family and so many wonderful friends too. I know that I will continue to do well and that the dress sizes will go down I just need to practice patience. But is anyone else having the same feelings??

Sugar-free Pudding Delite

1 box of graham crackers (chocolate, cinnamon or plain)
1 16oz container cool-whip
3 large (1.50z) sugar free jello pudding (instant) in either chocolate or vanilla
7 cups of 3% milk
Break graham sheets into smaller wafers, line bottom only of large covered container. In a large mixing bowl mix milk and pudding mix, until thickened. Add cool whip and mix until combined. Layer over graham crackers to cover well, add a layer of graham crackers and repeat until all pudding has been used ending with pudding last.

Variations:
1. Mix in 3 - 8 oz. neufchtal cheese for cheesecake flavor before adding coolwhip to pudding
2. Add cinnamon and nutmeg (to taste) to vanilla for spice
3. Top with whipped topping and piping for decor
4. Top with strawberries and sugar-free strawberry glaze (or other berries, if you use frozen thaw and drain) and drizzle sugar free chocolate over the top
5. Add a can of plain pumpkin and pumpkin spices
6. Top with sugar free canned pie fillings

Low fat, sugar free and low carb.

Still going strong!!

Okay all - went for my third fill yesterday - got a 1/2 cc in my 4 cc band - now have 2 1/2ccs in my band. After a fill I seem to have a hard time once I get home with the liquid diet - when I try to lie down that is! I am fine while I am up but when I try to lie down I have a lot of trouble keeping my liquids down. This usually lasts a couple of days and then I am alright. I was excited to find out that I had lost a total of 69 pounds now! It is so wonderful and I am so grateful to my family members who made this possible for me. What can I say but thank you but it does not seem like enough - just working hard to show them the results and that it is worth all we went through to get here.
I am getting ready to move into my little house this week too so I am having a bountiful Christmas this year. A house, my mom will come to live with me and my daughter will be putting her house behind mine. Woohoo life is good.

Catching UP

Nov 09, 2007

Wow it has been a while since I was on here! I am so excited - I am down 60 plus pounds now!! Wow what a milestone for me. I look in the mirror and still see the image of me at 327 pounds but when I look at the photos of then and now I am amazed at the difference. To my friends on here who have been so supportive - this next 100 is going to be an even bigger milestone LOL! I love being able to get into the smaller clothes now. I still wear a lot of 24s but that is because my legs and stomach are hanging over LOL. It is still such a difference from the size 32s. I can even wear 1x shirts now. I have worn 3 and 4x for so long it was a shock when I accidentally put a 1x on and it looked good and to be able to wear jeans - woohoo - now that is a big thing for me! I love jeans and hating not being able to find any that fit me right - but oh my gosh I have about 4 pair I can comfortably wear now. I recently renewed my friendship with a group of ladies that I had not seen in about a year and a half and some of them were not sure who I was - gosh did that do my ego good. Well for now this is it - Rita keep up the good work and we will see you on the losing side very soon - January is just around the corner! Dee, Diane, Donna and Cindy - thanks for all the support and let's continue to be there for each other. I love you all.

HELP - I may be eating to much???

May 09, 2007

I have found myself grazing recently - I don't want to stretch my pouch and am really worried about it - but it really bothers me that my family questions every thing I put in my mouth too.  Support should not be criticism - it should be uplifting - you are doing good - you made a mistake but you did not lose the battle - pick up from here and go on - you can get back on track.  But the children seem to have a problem doing this - instead it is should you be eating that or that much?

WooHoo - I have ankles!!!

Apr 29, 2007

Wow who would have thought that being able to look down and see anklew would be such a victory!!  It has though - I have ankles and they are there for the world to see LOL!  I have a had a problem with swelling so much in the past and now I have ankles without the swelling.  It is amazing!

Interesting Changes already lol

Apr 22, 2007

Okay I guess the first interesting change I had was I realized the day I went back for my first visit with Dr. Strickland was that I no longer needed a seatbelt extender!!  In fact fastened my seatbelt without any problems at all and did not have to suck up my gut nor did it cut into me.  Then I also realized that the steering wheel was not sticking into my stomach either!!  WOOHOO I was excited. Faint  But now this week is even better - yesterday I went for a walk around my house - two laps carrying two 5-lb weights and without my cane!!! Eyes Poppin  I started out at 327 pounds on this journey and am  now at 288.5 already.  OMG - never did I think this would be possible.  Not only the above mentioned shocking things for me - but my 5x pants slip right off and the 4x are really rather large now - so now into 3x and so happy.  Think I am going to go cry some more happy tears now!!  Woohoo

Officially on the losing side now

Apr 13, 2007

I am officially on the losing side now - had my surgery on Tuesday the 10th of April and am ecstatic.  I can feel restriction already.  I am still fatigued so I will not be long winded here.  My caregivers at Lexington Medical Center could not have been better - they were all awesome - from the time I entered the building for the surgery until I left the next day.  I am so pleased with my doctor and all that has happened so far.  I look forward to being to be back on the boards regularly soon.
