Hi friends, I know that I haven't been here in a long time, but please know that you all still have a special place in my heart.  Marcos and I went to Mexico to do our Sacrament wedding in the church that his grandparents were married in which is always something that he wanted to do.  Wanted to share a little picture from it with you.  Hope that you are all doing well.  Hugs to all of you.

Well I am now officially 6 monhs out and 72 lbs. lighter.  I am no longer on any medications, I only take my supplements now.  I will schedule another sleep study after the next 30 pounds, but have slept without the CPAP on several occasions, comfortably.  I am much healthier and happier.  I can walk and excercise without feeling completely trashed in 10 minutes, but that definately took a few months to get to that spot.  My Osteoarthritis is still giving me problems but not as much as it used to.  I am still in need of a Knee replacement but am hoping to be able to postpone that outcome for a few years as the weight continues to come off.  I am really hoping to postpone it for at least 5 years, (fingers crossed, maybe more).  So good luck to everyone and I would like to thank each and everyone of you for all of the support and kindness that each of you have shown me.  Thank you everyone!!  Jodi

10/20/2006  Hi everyone! Well I am officially 2 months out and fee pretty darn good. As most of you, I am so happy that I made this choice, and would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you for all of support that I have gotten from everyone. You have made my decision an easy one and I will be forever grateful. I will keep you all posted as I continue, and when I can I will post pictures on my website of my journey and how it is going. Thank you everyone!!

 

8/20/06 WELL EVERYONE I AM ON MY SECOND DAY HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL AND ALL IN ALL I FEEL PRETTY GOOD. A LITTLE TIRED AND MY ABDOMEN FEEL LIKE I HAVE DONE A MILLION SIT UPS, YOU KNOW THE MUSCLE TENDERNESS AND I HAVE HAD THE FOAMIES SINCE I STARTED DRINKING THE WATER BUT THEY AREN'T AS BAD TODAY.
I HAVE BEEN UP WALKING AROUND, I TAKE ABOUT 4 LAPS AROUND THE KITCHEN AND LIVING ROOM THEN I AM TIRED SO I GO BACK TO REST. I AM TRYING NO TO USE MUCH OF THE PAIN MED I HAVE BEEN USING THE LIQUID TYLENOL FOR THE HEADACHE BUT OTHER THAN THAT I FEEL PRETTY GOOD. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT THROUGH THIS, IT HAS BEEN MY LIFE SAVER!!! THANK YOU!!

 

8/24/06 Well today was my first check up since surgery last Thursday on 8/17. I am down another 7.2 pounds and I am very happy to say that I am finally under 300 lbs. and haven't seen this in about 8 months. My blood pressure is good and I feel good. Don't go back to the dr. for 2 months.

 

Well today is 7/20/06 I have been doing the pre-op diet and getting all of my tests done. I was averaging about 1 to 2.5 lbs. per week. last week we went on a small vacation and i put on 3 lbs. unfortunately. So this week I have put my nose to the grindstone as I want to have this surgery as soon as possible. Went to my weigh in today and I lost the 3 lbs. plus another 1.5!! I am so happy. My bariatric consultant told me today that since my last pre-op test is Monday if I can get them to send the report over to them by the next day, she can get me in to see the Dr. on Wed. I am so excited and can hardly wait!! I will once again put my nose to the grindstone this week and see if I can't do maybe another 4 lbs. Boy if that be the case I will only need another 6 lbs. before I am ready for surgery!!! I am so excited about all of this and can hardly wait to finish this stuff up!!! This board has been so very helpful as so many friends that I have made here have shown me so much support as only a fellow MB Person can know to give. Thank everyone so much for the support and I will keep you updated as I have something to tell!!

 

Well I did not loose 4 lbs. but they have scheduled my surgery for 8/17/06!!!! I am so excited I just can't wait!!! I will be working really hard to get that weight off though!!! I don't want to mess this opportunity up for anything!! Pre-op hospital stuff is scheduled for the 15 which will be my last weigh in day! I am just so excited!!! thanks for the prayers everyone!! 7-30-06

 

6/10/2006  Went to my consult with the Dr. he stated that of course I am a good candidate for the surgery and that he would write a letter for approval for me to be a part of this program. They said that I should make an appointment with the nutritionist so I did. That was scheduled for the 20th.

Had my appointment with the Nutritionist on 6/20/06, she stated that they had not received approval yet for me to go ahead with this but that we would continue as if they had. I had our insurance solution place, fax her all of the papers that I had already sent to the insurance company through appeals and all which came in handy, I watched a film that was part of the pre-op things I had to get done, and she told me that she wanted me to do the Isopure now, 5 times a day at 1 scoop each time and 1 sensible meal a day. I will start with the Isopure on Friday which is payday.

 

 

6/23/2006  I am so excited I can't wipe the smile off of my face and I can't settle down. The nutritionist called today and said that she had to kind of get nasty with them but she got them to approve this. I asked her just what that means and she said that I will have to do all of the pre-op stuff then I they will re-submit for the surgery which she stated was pretty easy to do and that she was pretty positive that it would all be good. So what a wonderful day it has been.......

 

Well I was finally approved for the consultation, and have my consult with Dr. Thoman on 6/9/06 can hardly wait.

I am posting today during my lunch as I have time today. I have been extremely busy as I took a week off to spend with my father as he was so ill. He passed away on the night of the 15th of April and I wouldn't change the week prior for anything. Seeing how he was suffering was so much worse than know that he is in a better place and no longer suffering or in pain. I am OK, I do miss our daily phone calls on my way home from work but will always treasure that memory. Hope everyone is doing well. Still have no news from the Clinic after resubmission but will keep you posted.

I went to a seminar given by the Dr. that I am trying to have the surgery done by it was very informative and my DH went along. I think and hope he will be very supportive with this, I know that he wants to go to another one so I am looking forward to it. He will have all of his questions answered.

 

Well I received a denial letter from the clinic and then my appeal. I was so sad and was going to file a state appeal. I put a call into my dr. as they were denying me on the grounds that my BMI is supposedly under 35. I told her I can't understand how they would get that and she called me back in 5 minutes to tell me that she told them my weight was 199 lbs. I told her that I hadn't seen that in 10 years! She asked if I was sure, go figure! She had me come in to be weighed once again and so she has resubmitted the request.
