4 month's out

Sep 30, 2010

Well I'm around 4 months out (over by a couple days) and so far so good, no problems.  I've lost in the ball park of 111lbs which is I think is on par with others, but I'm not sure.  Either way I am very happy with the results so far, and hope to continue to lose more.  I've kinda been at a "stall" for the last couple weeks, not really losing anything even though I am stil monitoring my foods and exersizing.  I'm ok with that though because I know my body might just be adjusting again, and moving around, etc..  I've been horrible at remembering to take my vitamins and calcium, that's gonna be a new goal of mine, to remember them all every day :)

First 100lbs

Sep 14, 2010

Well I've lost my first 100lbs, started at 385 and am now at 285 wearing a 2X shirt from a 4X, and in a size 46 Jeans from a 58 size before.  I've made a bunch of new friends on here, and on Facebook as well which is always great and exciting!  I met with my sleep doctor today and he is very happy that I am still using my CPAP machine nightly, and he said when I get closer to my goal weight we can do another sleep study to see if I still need the CPAP machine.  Losing weight continues to give me more self-esteem and confidence which I think is good.  I'm begining to like trying on different clothes, and am still adjusting to everything.  I often feel like a loner when there's a bunch of going to lunch because obviously I have to eat extremely smaller portions and alot healthier then everyone else..kinda makes me feel like a freak sometimes.  It would be nice to sit down once and have someone eat on a smaller plate like me.

Unintended Pro's of the surgery...

Sep 10, 2010

Today as I sit at my desk at work I started thinking about things that have changed besides the obvious weight loss since I've had surgery.  Some "pro's" of having the surgery I had not thought of, and I am starting to see them now and feel them.  The "pro's" is that my confidence is much higher, even at only 3 months out...I am holding my head up higher now, I am walking prouder, I look at people in the eye now, I interact with complete strangers and make "small talk", I smile a lot more, I park further away because I now can walk a greater distance to get to the stores.  I feel more free to be me if that makes any sense lol.  I will elaborate more in future blogs, but what a great feeling this is.

Update

Sep 01, 2010

Well so far so good, I've gone from 385lbs to 296lbs.  I feel great, still learning as I trudge along but overall very happy with the results so far.  I'm into smaller clothes (4XL to 3XL and 58 waist to 48 waist)  I'm still excited to be on this journey, even though at times it can be challenging and stressful lol

Sleep Study

Feb 17, 2010

My sleep study is tonight to see if I am having any sleeping problems I guess.  Kinda nervous that I won't be able to sleep with all the wires and things hooked up to me.  Wish me luck! :)

Getting there :)

Jan 27, 2010

Had two more appointments today, which was nice not to have to come into work until noon time :)

I had the required Physical Therapist consult for an hour this morning, followed by the required Nutrition class for two hours.  Both meetings were very informative and helpful.  Some of the material and discussion seemed repetative of the initial orientation class but overall it was a nice learning experience and will be helpful before and after my surgery.  I am looking forward to the next support meeting.

My sleep study consultation

Jan 21, 2010

Well, I had my sleep study consultation this morning and it looks like I will have to have a sleep study done which is fine, I will be interested to see the results and whether or not I am getting good sleep.  When I went in they had to get my vitals, which is always depressing.  They had a special fat person scale all ready for me, it was so embarrasing it was quite large and could weigh up to 700 pounds.  I stepped on it and peeked at what my weight was....380.8lbs.  The biggest I have ever been.  It felt horrible to see that number.  I'm hoping that I can lose some weight before the surgery date (if they approve me to have it).  Either way, I've got to try something, I can't keep this weight on me.  I've got my psychological eval appointment scheduled and PT and other appt's scheduled.  Just gotta keep my head up and stay motivated.
