I am 37, 5'6" and I weight about 334. I have for several years now. I am excited about my WLS journey. I have already met with the surgeon and am working on getting all the info for my insurance company. I am married with 4 children. One is mine and 3 are my step children but I love them like they were all mine. We have a wonderful life but I just want to be healthier!!!!

5/15/06 Well I have completed my insurance paperwork and I received approval within a week. I got a call 3 hours later and the Dr's office called with a date. JUNE 14, 2006. I am one step closer to healthier!!!!!

6/3/06 I have started my pre-op liquid diet. I am on day 4. It's not that bad really. I have even lost a few lbs. I am now down to 327. I am really really happy to be moving forward but scared as well. I am nervous about complications but I trust Dr. Lowe and know he is a good Dr. My family is very supportive as well as my co-workers. For anyone reading this, yes this is a drastic way to lose weight but it's also a drastic way to get healthy. Do lots of research and make sure you have a good support system. Well here we go 11 Days and counting.

6/12/06. Well it's 2 days away and I have been doing well on the liquid diet. It really isn't that bad. I am very excited and a little nervous. I will post all the details I can about the surgery and Dr. Lowe because I know how much the info on other profiles has helped me. Not much longer and I will be on the loser's bench.

Hi everyone. I am home from the hospital and everything went fine. I really didn't have that much pain and not a lot of nausa. I was worried about that but it wasn't as bad as I had expected. Dr. Lowe is a GREAT Dr. He is so nice and really really takes every precaution to make sure you are ok. He really listens to you and helps you learn to listen to your body. I feel pretty good today but have some sour "pouch" from sinus drainage i guess. I went all day yesterday without taking any pain meds and that wasn't a good idea. I felt bad last night but once I took something I felt a bit better. I shouldn't have tried to be a martar. So far so good. I am working on getting in the fluids and protien. The fluids are much easier than the protien. And the sf koolaid is better than water. But I am working on getting more in. Well I will post again soon. Thanks to everyone reading this. OH has been a great help and support to me.

7/14/06. Well it's been a month today since the surgery. I am at 289. It's the first time I have been below 300 in 5 years. I feel pretty good but have had a problem with weepiness over the last few days. Went to see Dr. Cook my PCP and he said it was completely normal and compared it to Post partum and gave me wellbutren for the next 6 months. I am doing well other than that. I have to work to get in all my protein but so far so good.

July 20, 2006. Well it's my 4th anniversery with my wonderful DH and guess where we spent it. In the ER!! I ended up having to go to the ER because of an awful headache and dry heaves. After 4 days of test and no food at all Dr. Lowe deterimined that there was a scar tissue blockage that needed to be fixed with surgery. I was also very dehydrated. He went in and amazingly the bad taste in my mouth as well as the nausea and not being able to eat or drink very much are gone. I feel 100 times better. I spend 6 days in the hospital but feel much better. Dr. Lowe is so great and took excellent care of me!!

July 30, 2006. I am down to 285 now. I feel much better and am just trying to make sure I say hydrated.

August 29, 2006. Well alot has gone on in the last month. I spent 2 weeks in the hosptial because of the reoccurence of the intestial blockage. I was so sick but Dr. Lowe put me on Regland and did surgery again. I feel much better now but still fight being tired. I think it will just take time. I know I made the right choice having this surgery and my surgeon has taken great care of me. I am down to 269 now. Smaller than I have been in a long time.

November 24, 2006. I made it through Thanksgiving and I feel great. I have had no problems in the last few months. I have lost 100 lbs and feel better than I have in a long time. No more Regland and I can eat on a regular schedule now. I have had some head hunger but not too bad. I haven't had nausea in months and I have no sugar or bread or anykind since before the surgery. I am still losing on a regular basis but I know it will really start to slow down. But I am really happy!
