I'm Back!!

Apr 13, 2008

Well, here I am at home. Actually been home since wed afternoon......the surgery went smoothly and I recovered just as planned, so it all went really well.
The hospital was an expeirience. Doc Bob was awsome and everyone was really nice. I was in ALOT of pain when I first woke up cause they didn't have the morphine hooked up yet, but once they got me to my room and got me set up I just drifted back to sleep and felt better.
At one point I was awoke by my ANGEL,Mary Jo, who in all sense of the word IS an angle, and she came to say hello and bring me a beautiful basket full of goodies and a folder full of wisdom. I only saw her for a moment and it was in a haze, but I was so Thankful for that visit.
I was supposed to get up and walk a few hours later, but when I tried I got extremely naucious and dizzy, so I went to the bathroom , and back to bed, and they hooked me up to medicine for the nausia that knocked me out. Only got to walk around in there once after that, in the middle of the night, cause I kept bugging the nurses to walk me, and nobody wanted to.
I've got six little neat incisions that are covered with tape, exept the one in my bellybutton, and the tape is itching and driving me crazy, but I guess I'm healed when it starts to come off.
Havn't been feeling really swell. The first day back at home my husband got drunk and was stressing me out very much. By the next morning I was completely drained. I've been very sore, very weak, and very tired.
All I've been able to get down is a little protien water and a little protien drink here and there. I havn't vomitted yet, and don't wish to. Last night I actually had a little cream of mushroom soup and it was very good.
I WILL dispell a myth right here and now...on the 2nd day home, my husband was making some soup in the kitchen and I was laying down in the bedroom (the other side of the house) and could SMELL it.
My stomache started growling like crazy, and I felt hungry!!
I thought that wasn't supposed t happen anymore!!
Every time he sits next to me and starts eating, I feel hunger. I know its too soon, and I'm probably dealing with head hunger as well, but I havn't eaten " anything in like 6 days now.
I think I will try to make it to the store today and buy some cream of wheat.
Oh...had my first BM last night in the middle of th night. Stomache woke me up hurting, felt things moving around in there, went to the bathroom, and sure enough, there was my first BM!! So I guess the plumbing is working okay now.
By the way, my weigh in at surgery was 236, so I lost 15 lbs before surgery!! I am sure I am losing at least a pound a day, but don't own a scale, so we'll see what it is when I go to see Doc Bob on wednesday.
Well, that's about all for now, just anxious to start feeling better and having some energy!!

THANK YOU!!

Apr 06, 2008

Thank you to everyone who is sending me well wishes for my upcoming surgery!! It means so much to me, as I'm having alot of problems at home right now, and do not have a great support system. Thank the Goddess for my Mom and my angel, MaryJo (desertdancer) to help get me through this.
Surgery is in 2 days!! Woo-Hoo!! I can't hardly stand it...NOW I 'm excited!!
I havn't had the greatest time being on the 2 week liquid diet...not with all this stress around me, but I'm down 9 lbs so should be just fine.
My Mom just wants to meet my handsome Doc!!
Everyone keeps asking me, "arn't you scared?? Arn't you nervous?"
NOPE!! I've never been more certain of anything in my life, and I'm just so thankful to  have the chance of a new life......
I'M GOING FOR IT BABY!!!
See you on the loser's side!!

Hi all!!

Mar 21, 2008

I'm at the library using the computer cause mine is shot!!
2 and a half more weeks till surgery and I can't wait!!
Last night as I was looking at the full moon, I realized that when I see the next full moon, everything will be over and done with, and I'll be on the losing side!! It's so awsome!!
I wanted to take a moment to say "THANK YOU" to all the folks who have been sending me well wishes, and also to my Angel Dessert dancer , for all her wonderful support, love and humore. (Not to mention the awsome job she did on my website)!!
Well, there about to kick me offa here, so I'll see you all on the l;osing side!!

GOT MY SURGERY DATE!!

Mar 07, 2008

Well, I've been approved and my surgery date is April 8th!!
I am SO very excited!! This month will simply NOT go fast enough!!
Me and Mom went to a thrift store yesterday, tried 3 different scales, and the one that said her weight properly showed that I have lost 10 lbs since I started on the shakes 3 weeks ago! I must admit, I havn't been honest to the shakes, as they are already making me gag, but I have been watching my diet very closely!!
This means I only have 5 more lbs to lose before surgery, and my 2 week liquid diet will take care of that!!
(so tonight I'm celebrating with some roast chicken and  a chelada....something I won't be able to do at all after surgery!!)

P.S...........

Feb 15, 2008

OH!! By the way, my nutritionist had me go out and by the protien powder that day and start the pre-op diet immidietly!! I only have 14 lbs to lose, so I should do pretty good. I figure this next 6 weeks will be the hardest part of the whole ordeal, but I'm so happy in knowing I'm on my way to the osing side!!

The ball is rolling!!

Feb 15, 2008

Well, I guess I am writing this for myself, cause I never hear from anyone on my "friends" list anymore!! Oh well.
Had my last appointment on monday, and paperwork got sent into insurance 2 days ago. I was told that it usually takes about 2 weeks for insurance approval, and my surgeons appts. are about 4 weeks out, so I could be having this surgey in as little as 6 weeks from now!!! (YAY!!)That would be about the begining of April.
Now, of coarse, my big problem is comingup with the money in that time. I have discussed this with my Mom, hoping she would offer a loan, but she just says, "it will happen one way or another" so I've got to believe that will be her way of telling me she will help.
I f I keep worrying about this, I will end up pulling my hair out andgetting ulcers, so I just have to believe it's going to happen, and SOON!!
It just so happens that my husband is going going out of town on business right around the same time, so chances are he won't even be here for  my surgery! (which will probably be a relief to him) Guess it's just me & Mom.

I'm a slacker!!

Feb 08, 2008

Well, it's been a while since I've made a post and that's because I've been bad!! I had great intentions on starting out the new year right, and all it took was my husband's birthday to get off track!! Was going to completely stop drinking, but we had to celebrate. Not only did I add empty calories by beer, but whenever I drink, I get incredibly hungry for junk food!!
Then after my husbands birthday came and went, we got our tax return and had to do more celabrating!!
Then, it was superbowl sunday!!
I know I am sabotaging myself, but I think I am using the logic that after the surgery, I'll never be able to "celebrate" the same again, so I am doing it while I still can!!
Bad idea, I know.
I have also been very depressed. (yes, I know , alcohol is a depressant)
It's been snowing for like, 2 months straight...it's cold and ugly, and we have NO money saved for my surgery, and it's goin to be around $3-4000.oo instead of the $1500. that I first thought. Bill assured me that I will get his bonus check in March for my surgery, but now it loks like that's only going to be a drop in the bucket. Sounds like I've made some bad choices huh??
Well, I did my phyc eval in January and  came through with flying colors, and I have my appt. with the nutritionist on monday, and that will be my LAST required appointment. They will snd my paperwork into insurance at that point, and the ball should start rolling pretty fast after that.
I'm just going to have to scrimp and save as much as I can, and pray that I win the lotto or my Mom will help me out with the remainder.
I am SO ready for this surgery and my new way of life!!

Merry Christmas!!

Dec 25, 2007

Well, as today is Christmas, it seems like a good time to start my first blog. Hmmmm...first of all...Merry Christmas everybody!!
As far a my progress goes, I have completed my 6 month physician supervised diet and excersize program. When I started, I weighed 251, and now I weight 256!!
I will be the first to admit that I didn't put my full potentual into it, mostly for the reason that I only "HAD" 12 lbs to lose before my surgery, and I was afraid I would lose it then gain it back again BEFORE the surgery!! THEN came a big suprize!! My first month into it I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and the only approved medicine for it so far, makes you gain weight as a side effect!!
So for my first month, even though I was dieting and excersizing, I GAINED 5 lbs!! My second month I decided to go off the meds and I LOST 7 lbs, but was in too much painso went back on the meds, and here I am now, needing to lose 16 lbs before surgery.
At this point, I still have to see the nutritionist, get my phyc eval, and and it looks like we won't have th money for the surgery (our insurance covers 90%) till March, so come Jan 1st, it is back to rigid dieting for me..I want to be ready for this surgery!
