First Doctor Visit after surgery

OK I am down 16 pounds since surgery Yeaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . My visit went great today my doctor said that everything look fine. Also I go back to work on Thursday of this week. I must say that I am ready. Also my doctor explained that they will not fill my band for another 4 weeks.. I was told that this is the healing process and that I should follow the Pre-OP diet until Iam completely healed. I was not aware of this it seems that it would be hard but I have done great so far. Does anyone understand this process and is it normal to wait six weeks after surgery before you receive your first fill? I guess I am a little nervous. Anyway I was also told that I can start walking at least a mile a day. So that's going help the weight loss as well. Anyway just wanted to check in.
