I am 27 years old and have always been overweight. I had thought about WLS several times but my insurance didn't cover it so I just kept putting it out of my mind. At Halloween '07, I was walking around the neighborhood with my friend's 2 kids and realized just how out of shape I was. It was a matter of life and death that I was ignoring. I waited and tried to talk myself out of it for a few weeks then made the decision to contact a hospital. I had my initial consultation 12/6/07 and found out what my out of pocket cost would be. It was more than I expected but I realized I could buy a new car or a new me. I decided on the new me. I had my pre-op testing on 1/11/08 and my nutritional class on 1/15/08. My surgery was 2/11/08 at St. Vincents in Indianapolis, IN. I have a wonderful support system here at home but I can always use more good friends! God Bless!
