My Endoscopy

Sep 01, 2009

This morning I had the endoscopy.  I was the first one on the schedule.  Got there at 7:30 a.m. for an 8 a.m appt.  Info was taken by the nurse, then I changed into the lovely paper gown.  It was almost 8 a.m. at which point the anesthesiologist came and did his thing (hooked me up to IV fluids).  So now it's about 8:30.  A nurse came in to make sure the fluids were dripping properly and I asked when I would be taken in for the procedure. She said "whenever the doctor decides to stroll in."  LOLOL  FINALLY by around 9 a.m.  in strolls the doctor and I'm escorted into the next room for the procedure.  They gave me Oxygen, taped a little round tube (for the endoscope to go thru) in my mouth and then....one.....two.......I'm out cold.  About 15 minutes later I'm back in the former room, on the gurney, where the doctor tells me that I have an infection inside.  They took a biopsy, but he's almost 100% sure it's nothing serious.  I need to call his office in two weeks to get the results.   He tells me I'll be taking 14 pills a day to get rid of the infection.  14 pills A DAY!?  I'll be so busy taking the meds that won't have time to do anything else. hahaha
