It's been 6 months....

Oct 09, 2007

Well it's been 6 months and I have had my ups and downs... There was a time about a month ago that I had very little to eat and was constantly having foam come up... I think the band might have been too tight (I was filled at 2.0) but anyway, in August I went to the hospital with a kidney stone (was 9mmX11mm) and they put a stint in and couldn't do anything to get the stone because they didn't have the flexable laser to zap it, so I contacted another doctor and they got me into another hospital (a month later) and they zapped the stone... They also took 3 large pieces out and sent them off to the lab... I was told that day what kind of stone I had because we did a 24 hour collection test and found out that it was a calcium oxidate (I think is what they called it) stone... BUT before I went to the 2nd hospital I had to have Dr. Spiegel unfill my band (Which I think is kinda odd, since they aren't going near my stomach with a breathing tube)... When I was in the first hospital they did a cat scan and found that I also have Gall Stones and of course they brought to my attention I have elevated liver levels (which I have known for about a year now)... So I am about to schedule my 4th hospital stay in the same year to get my gall bladder taken out, as well as a liver biopsy since they can not figure out why my liver levels are elevated... I was doing some research and came to the conclusion that I most likely have a fatty liver, and need to reverse that as soon as possible or else I will end up with cirosis and all from not even drinking (I only drink about 3 times a year).... ANYWAY... Due to the type of kidney stone I have, and am suseptable to getting I need to increase my dairy (I know it sounds weird), and lower my protien, and due to my liver problems as well as my weight issues I need to decrease my fat, and since dairy has a lot of fat in it, I think I will be doomed to continue with kidney stones.... At the VERY LEAST untill I can get my weight down and my liver back to some normalasy... And I don't like milk so I have no idea what else to do there... Also since I am supposed to drink a slim-fast every day for breakfast, How is that going to help with the kidney stone diet of low protien and high calcium?  I don't know...  I am just a little confused, but it'll all work itself out in the end... That much I am sure about....

HUGGERS!

July 17th

Jul 18, 2007

Well I went to my support group yesterday (the 17th) and as usual, I stepped on the scale to get the most accurate reading of my weight... SO, to date I am 361.9 pounds.... That's a total of 40 pounds in 3 months, and 2 weeks.... Not too bad.... I figure as long as I can stay on track to lose 10 pounds a month (on average) I will hit my first big goal (and my Dr's as well)...

My first follow-up

Apr 13, 2007

I went to the Dr. today thinking I had only lost between 5 and 7 pounds... I am SOOOOO sick of this clear liquids only and was THRILLED that I could now add soups (cream of....) so I stepped on the scale and it said 389.4 which is 13.5 pounds my first week!!! OMG!!!   13.5 POUNDS!!!  So we left there and I am getting hungry, but before we can go home we had to stop off at the bank... then off to the grocery store to get my SOUPS!!!! Chris and I haven't gone shopping together in a LONG LONG LONG time... Mostly because I couldn't walk the store without hurting so much I wanted to cry.... Today we walked the store!!! I know I should be proud of the fact that I lost 13.5 pounds, but I am more proud of the fact that I walked the grocery store... the only thing I didn't do was when we got to the cash registers instead of unloading the basket or waiting in line I went tothe front of the store and sat for about 5 minutes.... but then I was up and moving again... I am REALLY proud of that... and I wouldn't think 13.5 pounds would make such a difference, but my feet don't hurt, and my lower back isn't hurting either... I DID feel a little twinge in the middle of my back and my stomach area is having a little hard time stanging straight up (feels like it's pulling a little), but that's normal after having surgery.... ANYWAY I just wanted to let you all know how it went!!! :)

Thanks for all the support!!!!

Less than 24 hours....

Apr 05, 2007

Man in 24 hours just think I will be on the other side of this thing... I am happy, and nervous even though I don't really have any fears (other than my phobia of that damn breathing tube), but other than that I have more fear of the drive to the hospital than the surgery hahaha so THAT'S a good thing... I went 24 hours without having anything but liquids and some jello, and it was a little harder than I thought... OH WELL... it's almost done...

I go in at 5:30am and I don't have a definate time for surgery butI should be out and have SOMETHING posted that says "I'm OUT!" just to let you all know....

Pre-OP Stuff

Apr 04, 2007

Well I went to the Dr. ad Hospital on Monday for my PRE-OP stuff (bloodwork, and Chest X-ray) and it was an entertaining day... Chris and I joked around and everyone we talked to was smiling or laughing when we came around... We are a fun couple I think and joke about almost everything if we can... Life's just to short not to have fun... Even in the most "MATURE" times...

ANYWAY, in about 10 minutes it will be BYE BYE FOOD.... and BYE BYE sodas, and oddly enough I'm ok with that... This week was my "let's get in the last of the GREAT stuff" week, so Monday, I had Chicken Fried Steak, Tuesday I had a Chimichanga and Krepla (which is just ground beef wrapped in a biscuit with gravy over the the top that was split open), and today I had Biscuit's and Sausage gravy, bacon, and mom's meatloaf.... OH and I had Frappachino's and a couple penutbutter cups.... The funny thing is that at almost every meal I left food on my plate and either couldn't eat anymore or was feeling nauseated because of the nervousness of anticipation... I think it's GREAT, and I'm ok with all that... The only thing out of the ENTIRE surgery that worries m is the breathing tube... I have a phobia about that, and told the Dr. and the anesthesiologist and told them no matter what make sure I don't see it and I will be GREAT!!! I know it's such a silly thing to be scared of since it's a life saving thing, but I am... Go Figure... I am VERY anxious, and nervous, but that's ok too... except for the HIVES I have... They are STRESS related and I am sure I am under a LOT more stress than I know, but mentally I am doing GREAT!!! subconsiously I think is where the HIVES are coming from...

2 more days... hehehehe I think I am a little worried about the pain... pain over time I can handle TONS of, it's the instant pain I'm not so good with, but they said they would make sure I have some good drugs (and I got my scripts.... )   Okay that's about it for now... I'll probably write more later or tomorrow..

HUGGERS!!!

I GOT A DATE!!!

Mar 29, 2007

Okay there has been TONS that has happened since my last post, BUT I haven't wanted to post about them cause 1 I was a little depressed, and 2 I was tired of thinking about all the depressed things and didn't want to talk about it anymore hehehe ok so this is what happened...  After my cardiac appointment I waited for the clearance, but they never called and the Dr never got the fax, so I was a little worried... I got cleared though, then we went to Reno, (that was fun) then we got back and then we cashed out Chris' 401K, and then his mother said that she would help by co-signing at surgeryloans.com and we did it again and got approved... His mother didn't like the interest rate (17.9%) so she's getting a better rate from the bank and we will just pay that loan back... Some of the money from his 401K will be to help with things we REALLY need around here (new mattress' and things like that, not to mention makign sure we are set for all the bills too)... ok so we got that done, Chris called the Dr. The Dr. said ok, well how about Friday April 6th? (GOOD FRIDAY!!!) SOOOOOOOOOOO I go in for PRE-OP stuff on Monday (April 2nd), take the cat to the vet on the 3rd to get her declawed and spade, then pick her up on Wednesday, rest on Thursday, and have surgery on Friday!!!

I'm SURE there are TONS of other things that have happened in there as well, but I can't think of them right now... hehehehe

WOOOHOOO!!!!!!

Cardio Visit

Mar 05, 2007

Went to the Cardiologist today... He's SOOOOOOO sweet!!!! Anyway, they hooked me up with 10 patches and did a tape on me, the Dr. said it looked good and normal, but wanted to get an ultrasound to make sure... He also said that if that looked clear he would let Dr. Spiegel know and then I could get my date!!! WOOHOO!!! I am excited... Part of me hopes that I will get a date YESTERDAY, but part of me wants to wait for 2 weeks because we are headed to Reno next week... Hehehe other than that I am GOOD! In a GREAT frame of mind!
