I have spent the majority of my teen to adult life overweight.  I grew up in one of those families that believed in feeding you to make you feel better.  For many years I was told not to worry about my weight because I was "big boned" or "thick".

After having two children by the age of 20, I was no longer big boned.  I  went through the cycle of the diets, the excercise programs, the weight loss programs, the weight loss meds.  If you can name it I have probably done it.

I finally made up my mind in 2004 to do something about my weight.  With the support of my husband I began researching WLS.  I wanted to have the RNY, but unfortunately I listened to everyone talk about how dangerous it was and how I didn't need anything that drastic (I have spent alot of my life listening to everyone else).

In March '05 I had my first WLS.  I had the Lap-Band. I'm not here to discourage anyone, but that was the worst mistake.  I am now 13 pound heavier than my Pre-Op weight.  I have had an additional surgery to replace my port only to find out that it has slipped.  I have seen two other doctors since my surgery, and they both agree that my band was probably not placed correctly.  I will never know.

When I first began thinking about revision I was planning to have the Lap-Band redone.  I started doing more research on the RNY and decided that the RNY was for me.  I was so worried about finding the right doctor.  I visited 2 other surgeons before I went to Dr. Capehart.  From the moment she started talking I knew that the Lord had sent me where he wanted me to be.  She spent well over an hour talking to me and my husband.  She explained how the surgery should be my tool for weight loss.  My husband was there has well (he's been such a trooper!).  He looked at me and I knew what he was thinking.  THIS IS IT!

I was fortunate to have UHC.  I had to wait until 010107 to submit my info.  I was on my husband's UHC in '06 and they made WLS an exclusion.  I switched to UHC through my employer.  I received my approval 012307.  I am now scheduled for my Lap-Band to RNY on 020507.

Please pray for me and I will keep u posted!!
